Retro Gaming Magazine, Issue 2, Now Available!

RGM Issue 2RGM Issue 2The second issue of Retro Gaming Magazine is now available in both print and free PDF versions. The print version uses high quality 80# stock throughout, which is even thicker than what's found on many magazine covers you'll find at your favorite newsstand. This is particularly nice with the cover art, which runs seamlessly from the front to the back covers.

The themes found in the second issue include fan translations and digital comics. Due to a scheduling conflict, Armchair Arcade didn't make it into issue 2, but I should have articles in future issues.

Retro Gaming Magazine, Issue 1, Now Available!

Retro Gaming Magazine, Issue 1Retro Gaming Magazine, Issue 1The premiere issue of Retro Gaming Magazine is now available in both print and PDF versions. The print version is particularly nice since it uses high quality 80# stock throughout, which is even thicker than what's found on the typical magazine covers you'll find at your favorite newsstand. The theme of the first issue is cross platform gaming, focusing on the rivalry between the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and Nintendo Super NES/Famicom. Of course, there is plenty of other content in the issue, including a review from me for the new Commodore 64 game, Soulless. Armchair Arcade is proud to be a small, but ongoing part of this promising new publication, and we hope you enjoy it.

From the RGM Website:
"Retro Gaming Magazine is available for $7.49 plus applicable shipping to you. Pick your purchase option, then click Buy Now to be taken to a secure Paypal payment screen (we never have access to your payment information).

The PDF version of RGM will be free to download. We feel this is the best way to say thank you to the fans that have supported us and to also allow the maximum number of fans access to the content we make available. Thank you.

Special note: If you buy the print version, you'll note that the front and back covers are linked to form one continuous image. This allows for more expansive cover art.

Armchair Arcade Joins the Upcoming Retro Gaming Magazine - Purchasing Options Now Available!

Retro Gaming MagazineRetro Gaming MagazineI'm pleased to announced that Armchair Arcade is officially aligned with the upcoming Retro Gaming Magazine (RGM). Not only will RGM's staff be bringing you great editorial content each month, but so will the Armchair Arcade team--all in the style you've come to expect from us since our founding in 2003. On a personal note, a magazine is something those of us at Armchair Arcade had always wanted to pursue, but for various reasons, including industry volatility, it never quite got off the ground through traditional means. Of course, as many of you may remember, Armchair Arcade itself originally started as an online magazine, which ran for seven issues before we became a general purpose site, with on-demand articles, features, news items, blog posts, forums, videos, etc. That also allowed us time to better focus on other projects, including our popular books and even a documentary film, which should finally see release in 2014. In any case, this is an exciting new chapter in Armchair Arcade's continued evolution and we plan to fully support the RGM team in making the magazine - which is available in print and PDF versions - a success.
