This looks promising, as it looks to be a simple game engine scripting tool and compiles to Windows (95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, 2003, XP), Linux, Pocket PC, Handheld PC, GP2X and Windows Mobile-based Smartphones. While no doubt this software takes a significant performance hit versus something like a C++ or more targeted game development language, with a clever game idea, there's something compelling about it instantly being usable on all those disparate systems. I definitely plan on checking this out at some point.

Looks like Game Maker

Looks like a better version of a similar freeware program called Game Maker. I taught with Game Maker for Emagination Computer Camps back in 2004, as detailed in my AA article Computer Camp Catastrophes.
