In addition, a 61st bonus game, Antarctic Adventure, will be available in an exclusive version at Dollar General. Sam's Club will have a version with the standard selection of 60 games, but a handful of additional overlays. I should have an extensive first look at the new hardware some time in August. Finally, for those interested in the history of the Coleco ColecoVision and 19 other of the greatest game playing platforms of all-time, be sure to check out my recent book, Vintage Game Consoles: An Inside Look at Apple, Atari, Commodore, Nintendo, and the Greatest Gaming Platforms of All Time.

Flashback Coleco

My Commodore user group is displaying at the Classic Gaming Expo this weekend in Vegas. Got a chance to play one of these briefly. The guy putting it on display said they are selling these in the vendor area starting tomorrow for $60! The feel and sturdiness of the new controller was very good and perfect in gameplay to the old Colecovision. I'll be picking one up tomorrow!

Nintendo

There should be some Nintendo colecovision games on this flashback, because most of the very good colecovision games were made from Nintendo like:
- Donkey Kong
- Donkey Kong Jr.
- Popeye
Including homebrew Nintendo colecovision games.
Maybe next time they should be put on the Colecovision flashback 2.

Dollar General

I went to one of my 4 local Dollar Generals and did not see any of the flashbacks. Hopefully they will appear soon. I'll check out all 4 over the weekend.

There are rumors that Dollar General is waiting for Black Friday. Toys R Us already has the standard versions, and the Sam's Club versions should be available tomorrow or early next week.

Then Toys R Us it is and Dollar General loses a sale. :)

Toys R Us

I went ahead and bought the Coleco, Atari and Intellivsion from Toys R Us. I'm skipping the Sega one as it's too new for me and doesn't interest me as the big three did. :)

Keep in mind that the Sega units are the same as the previous year's models. The Atari Flashback 5 is the same hardware as the 4, just with additional games. There's a promise of a new model of the Sega handheld in 2015, which, based on my testing, will absolutely be well worth the $40.

No GORF, Mr. do, or Looping? Lame. Good thing I still have my 3 original ColecoVisions.
