What do you guys think of my latest stab at a Tangerine Dream-like piece?
Excellent music. This was a very credible "new age" style tune. I suppose this style of music is not for everyone, but I semi-frequently listen to new age, "electro-classical," experimental music in-between my bouts of pop-rock.
I don't know what images you had in mind when composing this, but in my imagination, I was transported to a scene where I am exploring the dead hulk of an ancient, deserted, highly-advanced alien spacecraft. Around me are crystaline structures, some of them pulsing and glowing with light, along with some electro-luminescent waterfalls. In some of the crystaline structures I can faintly see some strange humanoid-like creatures encased within. Are they in some sort of cryo-sleep, or is this some sort of tomb? It's all very beautiful, but there's an air of eerieness about the place.
Matt, you'd make a very fine composer of videogame music, perhaps for some indie games. (Heck, you already ARE a game music composer, counting your own videogames!) I'm sure there are some low-budget indie developers that could use some good game music, if you're willing to do it just to make a name for yourself (and who knows, maybe make some bank in the process). You could be the next "Fat Man!"
Thanks, Rob. Those images you mention WERE what I had in mind, so that's kinda freaky. I absolutely LOVE the album "Phaedra" by TD. I consider it one of the best albums ever--heck, best music ever. I listen to it whenever I want to be transported away.
I tell you what. If you'll be my manager, I'll make a whole album. ;)
TD, Legend is one of my favorite Soundtracks.. and all the Bru Haw about how Scott hated the score (it was tacked on after the movie was made by the studio, he did not want it). Legend and the Original Conan movie..
My favorite is the song Cottage on that album. I'd love to hear more songs like it.
Very well done, get a bit of a Bladerunner Vibe from it.
