The History of Sierra On-Line Documentary

Chris Kennedy's picture

It should come as no surprise when I tell everyone here that I am a Sierra fanboy. I always wondered about the possibility of doing a book about the history of Sierra - the people, the games, and the whole adventure experience within.

I am excited about the possibility of success of a new Kickstarter (Funding from July 1, 2013 - August 5, 2013) about the history of Sierra On-Line.

The teaser video has me quickly turning back the clock about 25 years.

I encourage you guys to check it out. I would love to see something like this happen!

This is about $100,000 short

This is about $100,000 short of its goal with only a few days left. Based on the comments on the Kickstarter, the producers were unable to establish credibility and the clips they posted online were too low in quality. Having done interviews choreographed by a professional director of photography in the past, I can definitely say there's a huge difference between that and the amateur footage (dark, odd angle, poor audio) they've been showing. It's a good topic, but probably too inexperienced of a crew to handle it.

I think the footage they showed is interesting, it is not as highly polished as some other documentaries sometimes with poor choice in lighting and framing but the sound is great and clear. I really wish they could have gotten the funds together but that seems to be a long shot now.
