temptation.. I have 2 complete sets (up to panda expansion) boxed, never used.. yes, i was a HUGE WoW addict.. not counting my 4 I used up to that point (yes i 3 boxed at one time).. I have been off the wagon for over a year.. close to 2 i think. been far harder to resist then I thought. So many GOOD free ones.. but WoW is like the Old EX so easy to get back with .. till you been with here a few months and you remember why you didn't make it. dang it.. i think i will fail .. wonder if I can get pand exp cheap anywhere? (not blizz store for sure)..

looks like amazon is best deal.. read some comments.. WOW is really a love it hate it game.. personally i feel its still the BEST MMORPG, far to spoon feed.. but in the end the raids and such are not for the top 5% like other games.. almost anybody can do them if they try a bit.. the player base is still horrible.. far to much vile for players who don't play well.. (with WoW's trivial penalties for dying its not like it matters)

So Matt if I fall off the wagon and join that server ( i know i don't have anybody on it, I spose i could transfer a critter, but not for $25).. so my speed leveling will slow in the 30-40's you going to speed run me through a couple of instances? (I'm not looking for levels.. but maybe gear runs to help speed up my leveling the normal way?)

Talent tree's gone? they had just simplified um when i quit.. but gone? ouch.. damn damn damn.. i have resisted the gnome monk.. if you fell off the wagon.. me a MMORPG ADDICT... what am i to do? I was so close to picking it up (mists) but held off.. long snow filled weekend.. just about finished with my Wiz 8 slog.. MATT I BLAME YOU if i fall off the WoW wagon this weekend.. (which sounds silly as you just said they made the game worse, so why would i want to play?)

I know matt was worried (sure he was :) ).. I stayed on the wagon :) No WOW pit of DOOM for me, I resisted and Played PLANET EXPLORERS.. think Minecraft, Dont Starve with realistic graphics, some what of a story line (crash land on planet in space and you need to find others who crashed and survive) its a VOXEL world so you can dig holes (realistic) mine for different ores, create stuff to live.. have people come with you ( and fight with you) etc.. Takes a long time to get going but once you get a few things figured out you can build bases and defenses.. the natives are not friendly, some are 20 feet tall and like to kill you for fun.. currently FREE to download from their webpage.. PLANET EXPLORERS

Mists of Pandaria

I think Mists is probably the best expansion they have put out to date. Cataclysm was the worst. With Pandaria, they really have worked out multiple tiers of difficulty. I enjoy raiding, but don't have a lot of time to devote to it. Raid Finder is awesome - get in, get out in about an hour. They've also done a good job with different types of activities to keep all sorts of different players busy.

Hehe...yeah, my friend and I have recently got back into wow out of sheer frustration with the wow wannabes. They've changed it up a lot, though, and really dumbed it down. not alot of new blood (by declining sub numbers) hence they have tried to avoid the HUGE problems most MMORPGs have.. the die-hards don't play low level stuff and want high end stuff.. so they have made the low level leveling much faster, so you can connect with the end game (new stuff) quicker..
Didn't they add a instant 50.. mode.. start a new character and you can be level 50 right away (ala Death Knight)..? I know when i played we had weekend races.. start on Friday at 6:00PM and on Sunday at 6:00PM highest level character won (guild events).. I could get to mid 60's in 2 days..and that was before the tweeking (but I must admit I sorta cheated.. 1-20 you do solo, after that I just attached to my main toon and ground instances and did all instance quests, wow unfortnatly has something that breaks the take a 20 to a 60 level dungeon.. taking a 20 into a 40 yielded about max results,, going more then 20 level over toon didn't seem to help). I won most of um i tried too. 3 boxing helps..

That's a good point, Bill! David Fox and Mark Soderwall talked about that issue a bit in my interviews with them.

I didn't actually play Bioware's star wars MMO, mostly because the reviews were so "meh." I was really hoping for something as good as KOTOR, but I guess that's like wishing for the moon (that's no moon!) these days.

I'm resigned to the fact that anything really innovative and worth playing is going to come from an indie, or at least a kickstarted-project. I'm more excited about Chris Roberts' game than anything that might come out under a star wars label anyway.

I'll tell you one thing about The Old Republic MMO - it made me view Star Wars Galaxies more favorably.

Clock: I thing that Kotor was Biowares project, not Lucas arts.

I never like this company, becuase i was never fan of their adventures (and adventures in general after my twelfth birthdays.. in exception of Gabriel knight 2 and.. probably nothing..) and Star wars.

Matt now that its free I would suggest giving it a try, its far better then it was made out to be. it suffers as all new ones do, of competing with WoW (or other successful ongoing MMORPG) games that have had years to fix and tweak problems. It did several things right. All the quests are voice acted which quite honestly does add to the game. The quests all tie together and make a 'grand quest" it seems and while its not LOTR, the writing is ok, the voice acting is ok.. That is the really good part.. where it lacks.. if you call it that, is its the same old "kill 20 smugglers", "loot chests till you have found the 5 pieces of the DOHICKY", "go into the tunnels overground and find the informant" which is guarded by bad guys.. The powers and gameplay is all quite good and feels likeit should.. Some of the "powers" dont seem to fit the Star Wars verse.. but eh.. Personal favorite class of mine was the stormTrooper type (sorry don't remember name) he has the auto lazer type gun (high rate of fire , but at range missed alot, and shot grenades.. (grenades in Star Wars?, don't seem right to me) but it was simply a AOE spell .. in modern trimmings.. The enveroments where all pretty well done, the story kept me interested, the game play was solid..

in the end its pretty, but its like a beauty contest.. they all look good, but in the end you gotta pick the one that appeals to you.. If I was to play only 1 MMORPG it would be WoW.. but with so many "good" f2p games I just play um all in spurts.. I have been close to stopping into SWOnline again, but my current fix is DCOnline (i must say its easily the best Superhero Online game), Secret world (rough around the edges, but is so close to "something Different") , and AOC (easily the most improved game, they have fixed so much .. it was a good game to start (till end levels) but IMHO its a very good game now.. (end game is unknown to me now as I haven't got past about 40 with the new version). Alos vanguard is very EQ wanna be which i like.. so dabbled in that some latley too..

But you really should take a peek at Star Wars now thats its free.. if you can manage some time.. to dang much stuff now days.
