Whats Your Favo(u)rite Retro Cartridge Design?

Mark Vergeer's picture

What's the best looking cartridge? What cartridge stacks best? Is more durable? Is handiest to use? Inserts best? Has the best feel? Doesn't get lost? Is most epic? Is most legendary?

There are many different shapes and sizes so it depends I think. Well check out the video if you want to know my answer. And check out the link below if you want to see the original question asked by Lawnboyspost1975:

For modern carts I'd say all the Everdrives! I just Love those new solid state storage solutions for the older systems. Can't wait for the new NES edition to come out. All Hail Krikzz

Nice

Nice seeing all the carts. I tend to like whatever carts were different than the basic standard on any console. So, lick on the 2600, SpectraVision, Imagic etc, NES Tengen, EA etc, I just like the companies that challenged the standards for any given console.

Mattel: small, tough and

Mattel: small, tough and when stacked that angled face with label was easy to read from the side or above. They had "grippers" the plastic tiny ridges to make pulling them out easy. All the stuff.

PRO
Small: easy to deal with, stack, store
Angled label: read from almost any normal angle
strong: stepped on many times and never broke

CON:
small: no fancy picture lables
General: mettle used overlays so you almost had to store the carts int eh original boxes.. large, fragile which negates alot of there charm ( but ment alot of um where kept in ok shape complete with instructions).

Interestingly, those shells are often used for Vectrex homebrews.

If the theme or focus is not of interest to you then consider doing a favour for everyone and don't bother posting. Seriously, are you so in need of attention or to be heard you need to make such a comment while also generalizing and assuming the only people interested must be "Hoarders?". If you have no interest then start your own thread that IS of your interest and stop wasting our time and yours. And to everyone, I don't accept the excuse of poor English skills etc, this Ruthan guy keeps going out of his way to be rude and annoying.

Best : atari 2600. Classic,

Best : atari 2600. Classic, sleek, stackable, name of the game on the end. The older text only labels were even better as they had some info about the game variation numbers.

Worst : JPN and PAL SNES - unstackable. Stack 'em and see - like playing Jenga with boxing gloves on.

The Imagic ones were quite nice with their silver label and nice styling.

oh - and why on Earth is someone who treats stuff as disposable posting on a historic game site? Please don't feed the troll.
