$20,000????

Ok the reason i ask.. I cruize Craigslist all the time for used games.. (recently purchased a few as I mentioned in another thread here) A guy had one of these for sale (came from MINNEAPOLIS MN a promotion for the movie there i guess) I went to the guys place (he had other games, outrun! but wanted to much) and looked at it.. He mentioned he got if from a friend who got from a movie theater, I didn't pay much attention to what he was saying, was just noding and looking at his other machines (nothing special a frogger and some old 80's games) but he did have it for sale.. for $1200.. i looked at it a mentioned it looked pretty beat for a new game and YES it was fake beat up.. at the time i thought.. ug if you make a new game, make it look new.. I played it a few seconds and lost interest almost right away just a level game where you fix windows broke by the donkey kong wanna be. I do admit it looked better then I figured it would and it looked very 1984, almost to good. but I simply had no interest, especially at that price. Now i see they sold for $20,000 did I just miss the chance of a lifetime? or is this bs? I know the game was real, and it did play, but I just figured it was some hack or something .. made to look legit.. again my interest level was so low I didn't pay enough attention.. this was at least a month or possibly 2 ago..

Figures. I almost figured it

Figures. I almost figured it was a joke story.. i guess the jokes on me.. Of course i would have bought it and tried sell it and got $500 less then i paid. I wonder if whoever got it knows what its worth.. I sure wouldn't have, i just accidently ran across that story. Just one more to add ot the "got away" folder.

Yes, it's just a locked down

Yes, it's just a locked down PC in the cabinet. They converted some Donkey Kong cabs before switching over to some others. They're definitely super rare now since so few were actually made, but, shockingly, a few people were able to get them dirt cheap by accident.
