On the Prometheus BluRay:

I thought the making of Doc was disappointing. There was only one guy I wanted to listen to: Ridley Scott. They spent a lot of time talking to, like, 5th graphic designer on the right using a laptop. That guy didn't even understand what he was doing. Here's an example:

Costume Designer talking about David's hair: "We went with a simple, handsome part in the hair." No mention of David's hair being made exactly like Peter O'Toole's hair from Lawrence of Arabia (which David is seen watching at the beginning of the film). That's a visual hint that David is a character much like Lawrence - a guy with no apparent allegiance who is playing both sides of "the aisle".

It's obvious that lady was only doing what Ridley Scott told her to do, and really had no understanding of why. The folks who despise that movie NEED to hear them talk about the "why", not the "how".

PS - I have not watched the Ridley Scott commentary. I hear it is well worth the listen because he is very open. I'll let you know how that goes.

Best Warhammer Game

Warhammer- i played the board game many years ago.. i have a question for somebody who really loves the game ( it seems).. what PC game is the best of the lot? Personally i like Dawn of War Dark Crusade is my favorite.. Winter assault is listed on most as the best.. but I felt it was way to liner, not only in battles.. but story.. and i really hated the rush stages.. build a base defend a few minutes, move to next one (eldar)...

I'd say Dark Crusade. It's the most faithful to the Miniatures game, and has the most armies in it. I have yet to be able to get into Dawn of War 2. To me, it's a strange game that sort of plays itself. I REALLY enjoyed Space Marine - was not a masterpiece, but it was neat all the same.

Prometheus- let me know whats new with that edition.. I too really liked that movie.. 80% of it... the movie (to me) was quite good right up to the unnecessary HUMAN (charlie) monster bit in the bay...him throwing the others around and such.. just felt to out of place.. to "every movie" and I'm real mixed on the alien in the end.. quite cool "we created our own monster" thing.. and it does take in a logic that works.. but something was flawed.. or just felt incomplete.. So many people are "what was it about" after watching it.. One of the main reasons Clockwork Orange is a favorite of mine ( movie... strangely the movie ending (to me) is much better then the book, which is not normally how it goes) is this movie lets you interpret some stuff yourself (right or wrong) and come to some conclusions.. and not every movie or story has to be "done" in the end.. I also loved "no Country For Old Men" when somebody watches it with me they all need to have reasons for everything.. who has the money, how is alive , who is dead.. etc..

MY LOOT: nothing this year.. my folks where both doing medical stuff so this year was about them.. and not us (my sister and me ).. I did get some gift cards.. But (folks health) where good reports.. so (yes, horribly mushy and corny) i got what i wanted... :)

We decided to keep things low

We decided to keep things low key this year as we have spent a fair amount on the house this last few months

However the complete Sopranos box set is welcome, as is Holtz's Planet Suite on CD ...and I have some gift vouchers to spend which might go on game or DVD/CD related stuff....
