Now this is a kickstarter I can get behind http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1461411552/elite-dangerous. Elite and it's two great if somewhat flawed sequels were some of my favourite games back in the 80s/90s.

So this is a Kickstarter I'll be backing not sure which tier yet but if any kickstarter deserves it's funding then in my humble opinion it's this one.

People love Elite still...

I'm still hoping they won't, honestly, but yeah, there's little chance now of them missing their obnoxious $2,036,500.00 (US) goal...

He's been teasing...

Braben has been teasing for several years now about how he has all these great ideas and wants to do Elite 4, etc etc. You are right about him playing the whole "Mr. Famous" card, imho. Not to mention if you followed much of the conflict he had with Ian Bell back in the 90s regarding the original Elite, he often came off as an entitled jerk.

There have been "AAA" kickstarters I've supported, but this is one that I would not give the time or day to.

Elite Dangerous

They're already up to about 1.6 million US dollars and need another 400,000 US dollars, with just under a week to go. There's still a chance. If they just set the goal at 1 million US dollars, then they would have already been in gravy territory and it might have built on its momentum even more...

Tbh I think this kickstarter could have been funded on half the asking price, or even less. Looks like ill have to wait a while for Elite 4

I put the Elite KS in the same category with Crane's Jungle Adventure.

Proposal: Hey, look at me! I'm Mr. Famous with an ancient game that everybody thought was pure genius! Now I'm thinking about doing something new. No, I don't have any specifics yet, no gameplay videos or prototypes or anything. I just think you should give me a LOT, and I mean a LOT, of money to do this thing. Did I mention I was like, totally famous?

No, thanks. I think it's GREAT that projects like this don't make it, because it shows that people still have enough intelligence to be wary of stuff like this.
