The first rumblings of negative issues with Kickstarter are startting. Small blogs, and opinion pieces, but they are starting. Any of you who are gamers and comic fans probebly know of Penny Arcade, I really enjoy there stuff, and in all honesty they seem like great guys who do alot for charity and such. But this one I'm not on there side of the page. The have started a Kickstarter to get rid of the ads on the webpage so they can devote more time to other things, and less time to making money. While this can be considers in the strictest sence a legit Kickstarter project (more time, more creation), i dont like it.
My idea of Kickstarter is for people with -no chance of access to the cash they need- to do a project, asking the people "is this worth it" and if the people respond they get to do it. Whne somebody is succesfull (finacially is the big key here) doing a job and wants people to donate so they can do less work, and more create it seems "off". Right away i must say I love the stuff they do and more would be great, I'm sure I would love to see it. But in my mind I would reather see projects that have no money get there chance.. even projects I have no interst in. I dont want to see people with cash, asking for more so they can skip the WORK part of there lives for the fun/creative part. To me this is a huge company with cash saying we dont want to risk our cash, so lend us your to try this new product idea out. its nto teh same.. I know PA is not making these guys millionairs.. but they are quite succesfull at it..
this is such a hard thing to day bad things about.. its like kicking a puppy, everybody loves the guy,(me too) but this is just wrong. now is see that they did it ( and it appears quite succesfully) i see othet comic (web comics) doing it.. and here is where it gets sticky.. some of the others i agree with (kinda). I know a few of these people and most make enouhg to do it full time, to run their merch shop, to hual there stuff from con to con.. ALL ON THERE own and stil have enough cash to live.. Thye are no where near in the class of PA.. they are not a multi person operation. most are one or two people shows.. WHile i can see them asking for somthing like this.. even then i feel its still wrong.. but thse guys dont have very succesfull operations, they are small time success.
I guess its like welfare.. there are people who need and people who get becuase they can leagally.. you can justify anything..
I guess in the end the people paying are deciding, and I should just shut my mouth..
A fourth Kickstarter came, the Hand stylus:

I'm just not getting this one.
Spinning that is strangly addictive.
Yeah, I like to give it a good throw and watch it spin really fast. I'm going to probably spin some things in my next few videos to be posted this weekend, so I'll be using it "normal", but I do like the spin app...

Not a particularly brilliant first test spin, but fun: Dungeons of Daggorath for the CoCo computer. Spin it yourself!

One use I can see right away is keeping tabs on my second, naughty dog...
Sounds fun, I wonder if anybody will make a tortillas-still-on-the-counter sensor for my dog.

This one, the Makey Makey:
I want to see the kids playing nintendo with fruit or pencil drawn controls!
Yeah, that was primarily my goal for the thing, to make interesting controls with the girls, though I do hope other ideas come out of it. I just hope it's not too much for me to figure out, though I'm thinking not based on what I've seen. It's not like I haven't overestimated my capabilities before, though...
