Sounds like its a maybe.. posting here as most people are clueless about Blakes 7,but I knew Matt had some interest. Sounds like all the right people, not going with 3rd stringers.. I'm a little worrieed about the "pitch to US tv" this was a British show.. thatnobody in america knows about.. if Firefly cant get a 2nd chance.. I'm not to sure this will. BBC would be a much better target.. DR WHO is doing amazing now with a slight upgrade to F/X or maybe F/X have just got cheap enouhg to do the show justice. I finally hooked my roomate on the New Who.. he wouldnt watch it after seeing some of the old stuff.

Indeed. I think it could very well if they patterned it after the Battlestar Galactica reboot in terms of special effects and mood. I don't know if they could do anything other than a rehash, though, since it wouldn't be blakes 7 if it was about somebody else! I want to see the Liberator, damnit. Of course the storyline doesn't have to be the same as long as the basic story is in place. Let's hope this time they find a better way to end the series.

I still think though this will be reduced to a casting decision. A subpar actor in Avon's role and it's over before it's started. Whoever takes that on has got to OWN it.

Own the DVD set - not sure about reboot

I own the DVD set of the original series. Love it to bits. One of the first Syfy series I deliberately watched (Space 1999, Lost in Space, Buck Rogers, Matthew Star, Battle Star Galactica, Red Dwarf come to mind). A remake of Blake 7 would go down if they do an additional storyline like - the years before or the story after the story of the original series. That would/could perhaps work. I'd advise the people behind the possible reboot/remake to stay away from rehashing the original content/storylines.

Loved the series - watched it

Loved the series - watched it back in the day. I've thought about picking up the DVD sets but am afraid it wil lruin the memory though I'm pretty sure I remember the stories being great that counteracted the appauling special effects. Orac was probably the biggest let down ever when first shown!!!

Dubious - if anyone other than the BBC made this it would be crap to be honest.

i must admit i know of the show. Buffy and Angel and liking pretty much anything Josh does i should probely watch it.. but it just seemed to true blood, Twlight for me.. Im long past TEEN ANGST being entertianing to me.. im now into the stage of my life where it annoys me :)

he for sure has the Look part.. he looks alot like Avon did to me..

I will still stick with Mads Mikkelsen as who I would pick.. he is a little to Studly for Avon.. Avon needs the average guy who could do anyhting feeling.. this guy is a bit to over average.. but I like the idea.. he was awsome in Valhalla Rising.. a littel know great flic.

Hm...can't think of a realistic choice for avon. Benedict Cumberbatch would make a great Blake.

It's possible that http://www.amctv.com/shows/mad-men/cast/pete-campbell/vincent-kartheiser
Vincent Kartheiser might be able to pull it off. He's got the slimy part down, but not sure he could pull it off.

welll he sure has the LOOK part down.. never watched that show so not sure otherwise.. interesting.

As much as I loved Blakes 7, I'm extremely skeptical of any kind of reboot. Mostly because so much of the show was carried by the actor Paul Darrow (Avon). You take him out, and I don't think I could have stood to watch a single episode. Unless they find a truly amazing actor like that again, I just don't see it happening.

There is no doubt Avon was one of the most intersting characters in the show, in fact a personal favorite of mine. I used to use the Name online a bit.. but to much talk about Makeup.. blakes7 ment nothing to most people. They have been talking a reboot or new series for a long time. Avon being a central character in both.. a new series would have had Avon exiled and some small band of rebels helping him escape and .. well, playing pirate/rebel just like the old series. As Blake was never very populour in the orignal show he may be but a bit part int eh new one.. I do agree.. Avon wouldbe key.. I was also a fan of Vila, but he should be easy to cast.. comic relief is alwasy easy..

Avon.. Lots of talk about the guy who played the first new Dr WHo.. he would work i think.. He did evil ok in GI JOE.. I can see it.. not sure I like it, but could see it

Also James Nesbitt- he was awsome In Jykell (check it out on Netflix) I like this idea..
Crispen glover- dont like this idea at all.

my ideas for Avon
Michael Emerson- maybe a little to wormy.. and he has a current show
Javier Bardem - if he can cahnnel the guy from NO Country For Old Men a bit.
Mads Mikkelsen - My favorite.. (bd guy in he bond rboot Casino Royal) might ebnve work as the guy who did the bond reboot is doing this.. but i think he is to big a star now.
ron perlman- works for me but the guy can do no wrong in my eyes.. not great casting.. but .. love the guy so why not- long shot.

And Vila- I would say Bruce Cambel.. but I hate mixing my cult favorties.. (and bruce is no longer lean and lanky)
David Hyde Pierce- almost perfect i think.
Ryan Stiles- not sure he could do it.. he has pretty much stuck stricktly to funny no "normal" stuff
Alfred Molina- mix between doc Oc and they guy he played in Mavarick.. maybe a stretch
