Anybody (bill?) get a chance to test it out? I have mine sitting in a box that i preordered unopened.. buying a house and moving is burnign my after work hours up badly.. My kinect is unhooked and boxed and I kinda want to dig it out and try it.. Reviews have been unkind (but some of my favorite Xbox and PS3 games are the worst reviewed, so that doesnt throw me off much) I'm in such a mess of stufff right now I just dont want dig it out set it up and be dispointed. Anybody got a chance to test it out a bit?
Yes, i think the shifter is just STIFF, mine is in all gears but I can see my unit has close to zero play, but with this type of controle its hard to tell as it is well made enough it doenst 'wear' i would suspect yours maybe had some use so the lower gears shift easier from use? just a guess. No serial or anything for me :( I was wondering why they had it.. i was thinking something like that.
The large manual was there. I don't know why I don't have it in the picture. It seemed to shift smoothly right up until the fourth and fifth gears. Based on what you said, maybe that's a "flaw" in all the units?
If I remember correctly, the only thing in the green envelope was a registration card and the serial number stickers.
envy! mine is laying on a box along with 30 other boxs to be put away (at least till 100% moved). My shifter is strange too.. but I think they are just that way. Mine seems to "hard" the wieght of the unit on a coffe table is not enough, i push the whole unit when i shift. And yes, hehe I assembled it and test drove it 'air gutair" style.. no game, not hooked up, but I pretended :) Question, what was in the green envelope? Mine was empty but included. From the looks of it the Large magazine style instruction book was not along? or did it have a smaller one in the game case?
It appears to be in good shape (not 100% sure about the five speed manual shifter, though). Now I have to block out some time later in the week to assemble it and try it:
I must say, I'm very impressed by how amazingly over-engineered it is in person! It was definitely a labor of love.
excellent deal I think, 2nd edition is no big deal to me, but may have a tiny bit more meaning to you as a collector too, but I think $99 is great. I'm betting you are going to play it (or the new one) long before I get too, still a month of moving. I fixed the washing machine I bought of craigslist last night (picked up a super high end maytag front load ( they cost as much as a small car for the set and they have a bad design flaw where a bearing gets wet and goes bad.. and its made so its not replaceable.. but it is if you dont mind a crapload of work)) and the Icemaker in my fridge was broke, fixed that to. I really need to paint one room before its full of stuff. but its the den so its already half full.. meybe next year.
I WILL PlAY mine before there is SNOW on the ground I swear!
I finally got Steel Battalion: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120960185023#ht_500wt... Not a bad deal, even if it's the blue button one.
I have room, I will take real good care of it :) send it on over! And be secure in knowing its Insured, babied and yes, played! But wait 2 months.... :) hehehe I wish.
Family room is going to be my MAN DEN! i have regretted not buying many Arcade games in the past.. I now have a place!!!! I am so close to replacing the 65" with that newer 80"... no longer will my shelf only hold 3-4 consoles.. i can have them ALL out again :) (i feel i should be making an evil laugh sound).. 25 years of Apartment dwelling.. Im so ready to make the ex GF and current cringe when they see my house set up like a GUY can only dream :)
Live it up like only a single guy can! It's just my wife and me in a four bedroom house and I'm told we don't have enough room for a Last Action Hero pinball machine :(
I'm more then a bit worried, i have watched a few reviews, and read a few.. Watching them I see some pretty good stuff, but I know looks dont mean great gameplay. I really want ot like this game so I may be a bit biased.. but it really looks like like some of the reviews are just.. angry.. I see mentions of bad aiming system... it (from video's) looks alot more realistic then most games, not thie crosshair means hit stuff so many FPS have.. Also lots of complaints about brutally hard.. BRING IT BABY! I'm actually quite diapointed with most games nowdays and the heal over time, forgiving nature.. Dont get me wrong.. I want my difficulty ajustable.. but growing up on the NES /2600/etc... HARD is and can be fun sometimes.. hard or frustrating are two differnt things and todays gamers seem to think they are the same thing.
I wish i wasnt so wrapped up in so much right now.. and for at leat 3-4 weeks more... I have the orginal Steel battalion controler sitting on my coffee table setup so i could chcek it out.. but sadly my orginal Xbox is packed away so I havent tried it.. now the new one is here.. stiing in amazon shipping enevlope and my Kinect is packed away. I cant wait to be settled into the new house.. its got a living room and Family room.. You know, I've been hesitant to even try the demo based on the reviews. I'll let you be the guinee pig for your boxed version. If you like it, I'll just buy it and not bother with the demo. It sounds like it has some disappointing issues, though...
