All this talk about game art.. even the Boxes can be nice to look at sometimes.. clean, cool top/bottom caps.. it is pretty, no doubt about it.

I suspect companies like Blizzard think like they were opening a new restaurant. You know there will be 10-20 times the people when it first opens, so you hire a whole bunch of "temp" people to deal with it (of course you don't tell them that). Then as the traffic balances out, you start making life hard for the staff, so enough will quit to compensate for the reduced traffic.

Except of course Blizzard can't exactly do that with equipment. You can't buy 1000 extra servers that will only be needed for a few weeks. At least, that doesn't make sense to me.

I agree 100%, its the same with all Online games.. when new 'why do i have to wait in Q, why dont they open new servers!" sure.. and in a month when you quit they are sitting with $100,000 of servers sitting around unused. Catch -22, keep it fast for a few months so people say its smooth, only to see them leave and your sitting with husg vills to pay. I think one problem is the actual economics of it.. MMORPGS showed they where cash cows (so to speak) UOnline and EQ showed there was HUGE money to be made.. not only do you sell a million copies at $50, you also get your $15 a month. This had a negative effect.. not at first. it was the golden age.. several "made it" up untill WoW basicly set the world on end an defined how to make a cash cow into a friggin Herd of cash cows.. There was write up on profit way back .. basicly WoW spends 1/10th of its monthly profit on upkeep... now think about that.. every month, of 7 years!!!!! they should have hired more people and put out more content.. but ... why? up till this year they have not really lost any numbers... Why change what is argubly the biggest succes story ever in gaming? there is the fear of breaking it.. Thouhg its kinda an addiction so even broke it seems to keep the people playing. I know I read a online game has tokeep about 75,000 players to make a profit and when the number goes up its not perportional.. so going from 75,000 to 150,000 doenst double your profits.. it triples them.. of course Free2 Play is throwing all this out the window.. and most F2P are actually doing better then the lesser paid ones (or Aion, champions, Lotr etc wouldnt be swapping as they all had sustinable numbers and where turing small profits.. just not growing).

opps way off track.. thats me..

I got about 4 hours in last

I got about 4 hours in last night, leveled past what the beta let you so I finally got ot the skill tree's.. The beta only let you get to the Skelton King, then it ended and you could try with a different class. I was wondering about the skill tree's or if it was just the pre-determined skills and picks.. They have "broke" the Uber character issue i think.. if you call it broke, i dont, but I did enjoy trying to figure it out. There was always a specific skill tree build that was better then others... at least untill ti was tweaked by Bliz. I think making the major skills simple picks you can make the game a more EVEN experiance. The only problem I see with the unlock of skills .. first 10 levels 1 skill, next 10 2 skills (etc.. i think?) by the end of the game when its harder.. I'm going ot be micro managing 4 skills too.. button mash hell. Already Diablo requires some mild skill to click around on specific mobs when you get surronded so you can either push them back or incap.. so you can get some breathing room, now you want to mix in 4 more skills? in a hectic fight.. I know, I'm just getting old and my reflexes are not what they where.. and who knows maybe it wont be that bad.

So far, just getting to skill tree and seeing its quite large.. game must be HUGE (diablo II was). Dont like the little instances all over (shack with vendor you have to load).. VERY tiny gripe, but dont like it.. as they look jusat like dungeons. Dont like the Imp king method of difficulty.. one guy who can continuly spit out more...Its a challange, but the Lich guys that spit 6 or more out in ashot.. in a hall.. they can do that crap a long time before you can push to them. Do like the TRIO boss system.. send 3 farily hard guys at once.. I can handle those battles. Dont liek ( or should say dont care) aobut the trap system.. seems useless, sure you can get a kill with it now and again, but eh.. feels like it was done not to change gameplay in any way, but to "oh, AH" us.. and after 2 times its just boring. Dont like- so far other then the Imp King resapwn system.. nothing has been a challange. Rmeber the first boss in Diablo, or Diablo II... hard hard battles, I know in Diablo II (end of act i)with you hardly into the skill tree's she was a tough (unless you had a ranged class).. The skelton King (maybe he is not end of act one? i have skipped cut scenes as they dont work on my machine) was a cake walk.. Playing a monk and heal cycles in fast enouhg I could just pound, eat damage and use heal.. I know with my Demaon Hunter in beta he was alot harder.

Overall I am quite enjoying it, as always I'm not to sure of my selection of class. In beta i played Demon Hunter and Witchdocter, did not try any others (after playing the first levels over 2X i had enough for a bit). The Monk is new, I tend to play ranged so theis up close stuff is differnt. One of the reasons I chose it. but right now I miss my Demon Hunter, not that the monk is an issue.. she is actually a better class so far.. buyt my playstyle fits ranged much better.

CONS: paused 2 x and locked my game.. all hotkeys work, the littel yellow circle that shows whne you click on ground (location your cahracter is going) shows.. all animations work.. but my character is frozen and wont move.. its like the whole game is wokring EXCEPT my character. not a big deal.. but as we all know a restart in diablo means a reset of mobs. Playing, i was kicked out "lost connection to server" 2 X also.. this was purely Diablo.. as my system showed no lost connection.. this as someobdy already said here.. may be releated to the fact this game is big..sounds like the problems last night will live on in NET history (issues connecting).. I read a few.. its amazing how pissy people get when they cant play. The funny part is all the "refund" talk.. in a few hours it was pretty much fixed.. I wonder how many cared then... We really have turned into a Whinny little B!tch society.. if its not here, now! we act like people are dying. I live through this on almost every MMORPG launch.. and this is effectivly that (due to Blizzards alwasy on attuitude). Of course when you pay and its suposed to work, you would like it too. But it is a GAME.. not life support , a plane, power to heater in winter.. if you cant use it for a few hours.. YOU DO SOMETHING ELSE... good god.. OH, i guess they did , they got on forums and experessed thre anger by asking for a refund.. What would be cool is if Blizzard took um on the condition they never played the game after.. (no way to inforce) but I bet less then .01% would still ask if they knew they could never play it if they got that refund.. its just whinny people.

Looking forward to playing more late tonight ....to dang nice a day to be inside.. also looking at buying yet another toy.. a Camaro COnvertible...sure dont need another car, but price is right and summer is here! live now or die old and wonder what if?

Im running a friggin Cray here... Crysis is my biotch... and now i cant play a video?

I quite liked Diablo 1 and 2, and it was just last year when I went a few weeks playing Diablo 2. Although very slick for 2D gameplay, it didn't seem like they required "a Cray" to play them on! While not hardcore CRPG's, the simple, casual game mechanics made it a game you could just kick back and play without frying your brain cells.

It doesn't really sound like Diablo 3 has that much to offer over Diablo 2, unless you count DRM hassles and laggy play! I, for one, am not that psyched about this one. It sounds like "Torchlight," only with more hurdles to play it.
