For a limited time, DAZ Productions is offering full versions of DAZ Studio Pro 4, Bryce Pro 7, and Hexagon 2.5 FOR FREE! For you graphics-aholics or game designers *cough Matt cough* , this is $800 worth of well-regarded professional graphics programs for free!!!

DAZ Studio Pro 4 = human figure graphics, posing, & animation program.

Bryce Pro 7 = landscape scenery generation and animation program

Yes, it's all free! So what's the catch? You have to subscribe to DAZ's email newsletter, which means you have to create an account on the DAZ 3D website. That's it! So you give up your email address. No big deal, since you have to do the same thing to join many website/forums, including Armchair Arcade.

Here's a link to the Makeuseof.com article about the giveaway:

Awesome stuff, Rob, thanks so much. I'm trying for it now!

EDIT: It took a while to download everything, but it worked flawlessly. Be sure to go for Rob's tip of snagging some of the other free content on there too!

One huge caveat is that DAZ

One huge caveat is that DAZ won't let you use any of the 3D models you create in a game; it's only legal for still images and comics and such. I have confirmation on this from the company itself.

Probably a fair trade-off, but....

Do you have a link to that? I'd like to know so I don't inadvertently violate the TOS...

No, they're not clear about

No, they're not clear about it on their website (rather stupid IMO). I had to email them and received a personal email in response. Here's what I received:

Hi, there. I downloaded DAX Studio 4, but after doing some research I'm not sure about the copyright issues. Basically, I'd like to use the product to make 3D characters for use in videogames with Blender and UNITY. Is this a violation of your EULA? I can't seem to get a clear answer on this.

Thanks,

Matt

The items from DAZ are to High Res and will not work in Games. Please let me know if you need anything else. Thank you for your patience.

As you can see, the answer is evasive and didn't even address the copyright issue. I don't trust these guys further than I can throw them, to be honest. My guess is they probably won't act unless your project makes money, then they'll emerge like hyenas from their den to sue the marrow from your rotting carcass.
