I'm a hoarder more than a player. My collecting has recently slowed to a trickle though because a) my computer is ancient and no money for an upgrade and b) I can't stand DRM (including Steam) or consolfied crap so that leaves almost nothing new to play even if I could. So, those factors combined maybe I'll eventually make a dent in my collection.

STEAM Addict too.. 350 games

STEAM Addict too.. 350 games on it.. well titles.. some are expansion packs or addons. I have a stack of 40 boxed games sitting by my pc. about 300 games for the 360/ps3 (these are my shame) im sure i have played maybe 70 of them.

Where i really feel bad is many gameas re quite good and i spend a few hours on them and gravitate back to my favorites (and if you dont know.... Im still adddicted to World Of Tanks)....

I dont preorder many games but I think I will pick up Reckoning (kingsomd of Alumar) on the 7th, looks like a good RPG to me.. Salvatora to write the story, Mcfarlan to design the Monsters (50/50 this will be good) and one of the leads of Elderscrolls to assure its a huge world.. Who knows.. maybe good, maybe bad.. as it the first game from Curt Shillings (baseball players) studio.. Im hopeing good. I did preorder the last Earth Defence force for the 360 (spent about 30 minutes on it). Also Dark souls for the Ps3 (second game in Demons Souls game, top 5 game to me) and i have barely looked at it yet.. part is the fact i need ( and will ) deadicate alot fo time to it once i start and Im just not ready for that right now.

so ya.. i buy, i say I will play.. but if I'm honest.. i doubt i will play 50% of them.

I have a backlog of around

I have a backlog of around ~170 games, stretching from mid 80's releases up to games like Deus EX HR, and I only devote maybe 90min a week if that to actually playing games.

Steam has actually helped me, I've gotten extremely good at waiting until the game is on sale for less then $5 before purchasing, exceptions made if I really want to support the developer then I'll buy at full price.

It's part insanity, part sick homage to the biggest hobby of my childhood.

I have a couple friends that are in the the game development industry, so it's inevitable that conversation can turn to games quite often and they'll say something that catches my interest and off I go to look at yet another game.

I hoard.

I have a Steam account and I buy game bundles. I think I've played maybe half of what I've bought. I, like some others, refer to the list as my "pile of shame".

I claim to have gotten better. I've been trying to finish what I have. I've even managed to resist quite a few sales. However, the truth might be that I'm merely broke and waiting for an attractive bundle.

Naturally, I maintain a wishlist anyway. I pretend it's in case someone wants to buy me a gift. My 35th birthday is tomorrow. I might get a meal from my mother. Nobody shall give me a game. The list is a set of delayed purchases which shall keep my pile of shame alive while I pretend unlisted games won't creep in through sales.

Sorry, all. Here I was inviting people to comment on this thread, and I neglected to turn on anonymous commenting for this forum. D'oh!

Anyway, problem solved.

I've played 'most' of my games. If only for a second after I got them... but if they don't make the cut, they end up sitting around, hoping some day I'll come back and take a look at them again.

The Games Deluge

Are you afraid walking into your office that you'll be crushed to death by an avalanche of games STILL IN THEIR SHRINKWRAP?

This discussion is for all you HOARDERS out there who just don't know when to quit assimilating every videogame in sight.

"Why do you keep buying so many damn games? Don't you have enough?" -- Sound familiar?

If you're a GLUTTON FOR GAMEPLAY, sound off here. I want to know WHY you can't resist the urge to buy, buy, buy, accumulating tons of games you know you'll NEVER have time to finish, assuming you even have time to install or even OPEN the damn things. How many games have you purchased on GOG and STEAM and never even bothered to play--a process that involves A SINGLE CLICK?

Are we just certified NUTS, or is there some kind of reason for our hoarding behavior?
