Always worth doing now and again.

Here's a couple of mine.

Intro to the glorious Plok on the SNES - excellent platformer well worth hunting down by the way

Level 3b from Sexy Parodius (Saturn / PS1)

It isn't what you've got -

It isn't what you've got - its what you do with it that counts.

The Xenon 2 stuff is excellent.

I've only ever played t2K on the Saturn (and the PS1 version is a different game altogether). The Saturn soundtrack is excellent but I may prefer this Jaguar original.

Its isn't always the "best" tune though - quite often its the memories a certain tune brings back. The Mario 64 and Zelda LTTP mini jingles are pure gold at doing that.

When i had my mame machine on

When i had my mame machine on alot I used to leave this game in atract mode in the backround...I kept planning on makeing a MP3 of it but never did.

I would think this would be on everybody's list

I actually used to put this soundtrack CD in from time to time back when i was a Metal Head (still am i guess)

when you got the supre power up it was the best (about 1:56 into the song in this video).

bit hard to hear in background.. best i could find.

And one can argue about ROAD RASH which was one of the first games to include a CD of the music along with it.. which was almost as hot as the game at the time.. Hamerbox, Monster Magnet, soundgarden.. I think at the teime SoundGarden was hte only somewhat big name.. and of course that led to Rob Zombie doing songs for Way of the Warrior 3DO also... (which also rocked quite a bit). Just song from his albumn from 2 years earlier.. but this was before any big name acts lent muisc to games...

Descent the Beat Found this

Descent the Beat

Found this while surfing Amazon for chiptunes. Sounds like exactly what I was looking for to stimulate my workouts--chiptune music with a danceable beat.

Whoa...Had to order this just after listening to the samples...

If you're a fan of Turrican,

If you're a fan of Turrican, I'd highly recommend Chris Huelsbeck's stuff on Amazon:

It's BLASPHEMY that these haven't received any comments or reviews...Just masterpieces being ignored.

A couple off the top of my head: Amiga tunes

Hard to compete with the SNES sound chip, davyK! Nice tunes.

I guess this will sound a bit more primitive, being Amiga tunes, but a couple of faves:

1) Turrican II - Amiga 500 (1991) - Orginal Sountrack - 13 - 3-1 - Concerto For Laser And Enemies

This tune is from Turrican II, a game that had an amazing soundtrack full of many excellent chiptunes, but "Concerto" sticks in my head. It has an ethereal, spacey quality that I just love. Very "chip-tuney," but in my mind that's how videogames are supposed to sound!

2) A500 Xenon 2: Megablast - Intro

What more needs to be said. This is THE classic Amiga game tune! I would say that the game has a great soundtrack, except that the entire soundtrack consists of this one tune. But it is excellent!
