Trolls? Bah, try Bears.

Damn this game is excellent!!!!! now that i ahve leveld a bit.. Im not so down on the simpler leveling.. I'm having a hard time meeting requirments to go up trees.. Quite honestly I havent run into enough enemies. but im only about 10 hours in.. (i guess im so used to 10 hour games nowdays)..

Trolls are nasty but nowhere near as bad as bears. I have the game on the default difficulty level and a bear will wipe me out with one charge. Trolls I can usually get the drop on. I coat my bow with weakness to fire or ice or electricity, shoot them with an arrow, then blast the living daylights out of them with the requisite spell. Bears for some reason always see me when I am sneaking, they can outrun you even when you are sprinting and their charge attack (at least in my game) seems to do abhorrent amounts of damage. Bears are frightening. Dragons don't scare me, I fought a weird guy with a mask that floats around shooting you with fireballs from a staff he has and that didn't scare me just got up close and started freezing and striking with hand weapon, alternating between destroying his stamina then attacking him while he tried to recover. (Can't throw fireballs with a staff if you don't have stamina :)) All in all I am enjoying the game and I must thank my friend who bought it for me as a gift to cover some computer work I did for him. It was a good purchase. I only wish there was more green, and classes.

Hit my first WALL.. I am not

Hit my first WALL.. I am not a save every second guy.. I have about 15 hours in Skyrim and i have 2 saves ( and a heck of alot of auto saves).. I went deep in one of the larger dungeons and the door locked behind me.. no way out without killing the BOSS.. and ... he one shots me at full health.. he kils my companions and resurects them to fight for him.. and WOW ... your campnions are TANKS.. i do more damge to the BOSS then them... I guess fallouts companions should have taught me this.. I am on the verge of starting over.. IM a caster and im thowing spitballs late in the game.. I watched a few videos of melee characters and they own.. damn it.. Yes i can roll back ot an auto save.. but my main complaint about the older games is strting to show its head.. Im quest leveling and my abilites are lacking.. i cant do enough damage..

Still an awsome game but some of the old frustrations are creeping in.

Its very much an elder

Its very much an elder scrolls game. If you are wondering he differences.

Much more structured, I dont feel so lost on what to do next.

Quests: holy HECK!!!! i ahve so many Im to the point IM avoiding talking to people, so much to do! and I'm loving every minute of it.

Dungeons: no longer will you feel like you have seen the same few parts assembled in differnt ways. I have seen very little that repeats ( it does, dont get me wrong, but so far very few).. one thing I really liked.. one dungeon youa re to go in and get a MACE.. the chest holding it has a trap in front of it (pit trap).. I am used to Elder scrolls so i saw it and avoided it.. got my mace.. but the dungen had other post to explore.. as i went down there was a Necromancer who was using the pit trap.. it ended in a cage.. he was torturing the people who fell in it (his diary said).. so that pit trap held double duty... a trap and a neat little story to add ot the evil of a bad guy. its touches like that I love.

WORLD: its a bleak place now.. not all green and nice.. they do an incerdible job on snowstorms.. Personlaly this world fits my view of fantasy.. cold hard and full of nasties..

Combat: I never liked melee in the earleir Elder scrolls games.. so have avoided it this time again. but from my understanding ( and watchign my companions) melee is deadly.. i do dot damge with my spells (spells look awsome, the rost ones look like you are encasing he enemy in it.. really cool, flame spells will leave scorch marks, will burn wood etc for a bit after cast) My falme will do steady damg but my warrior woman companion is knocking 1/2 helath off in a swing...

If you are looking for lare changed from oblivion.. im not sure you will see them.. its prettier (but no huge jump) combat seems bettter, level system is better. Way more quests, I think the story is the best one. of the Elder Scrolls. Some of the quest have me interested in where they are going.. something I normally dont care.. i just do um for the exp..

IM a HUGE fan of the elder scrolls games.. so IM BIASED.. but right now this is easily the best ActionRPG i have played.. It "IS" Oblivion done better, in all ways as far as I can see.

Now that you've played it a bit, has Skyrim separated itself from previous Elder Scrolls games? From what you've described, it sounds disappointingly close to an "Oblivion-with-better-graphics" experience.

From what I've seen of the graphics, WHOA!!! It looks just mind-blowing! But it also sounds more and more like an Oblivion clone.

follow the guy with the white pointy thing over his head during dragon attack, yes i was confused too at first.. there is so much noise and he is telling you to follow him but its hard to hear him say it. you dont get to fight him-dragon- (well i spose you could) he will lead you inside and equip you. You will fight a dragon in 2-3 hoursif you follow the story, maybe sooner or later if you dont?

I normally play female also, but in this case (no idea) i chose male... While you may be right on still not Beautiful, they are a whole lot better then the old puffy faced ones ( the elves slanted eyes still look majorly bad to me).

I have alwasy liked Fallouts cool little "location" thing.. may not mean much but finding them all was one thing i enjoyed about fallout3, and this game has it now too.. Maybe mixing the things rom 2 differnt games isnt a good thing.. but I am a HUGE fan of both games so mixing and matching wont bother me as long as its not out of place.

I stayed up way to late.. and just got up... some dinner with a friend, find a way to duck out early ( yes horrible i know ) adn more Skyrim for me today...

I played it very briefly late

I played it very briefly late last night. I have the 360 version. I was probably overly tired, because I couldn't for the life of me figure out where to go during the dragon attack. I spent a lot of time in the character creator. I still can't make a truly beautiful female character, which is what I generally like to play in these games. In any case, it reminded me a lot of Oblivion so far, save for the fact that it starts out harder (at least for me). Due to a booked weekend, I sadly probably won't get to more of it until Sunday night, but I'll have real impressions then...
