I play two Vectrex games contained on one cart, created by Revival Studios which is based in the Netherlands.

- Debris - Revisited
- Astro Dodge (Vectrex) (not to be confused with the new Odyssey2/Videopac game by the same author with the same title and basically similar game-play)

I opted to use the MineStorm Overlay as this is the basic overlay that comes with built-in game on every Vectrex system and I consider it to be the default Overlay to use if a game comes without an overlay. The system looks rather bare without an overlay.

Mind you that this game is something special as the Vectrex is a vector based machine that was thought not to be capable of displaying bitmaps. Well it is capable of something even better as what is shown on here the screen most definitely are bitmaps and also in different shades! Moving fast and being animated too. This is really pushing the hardware into a direction the original designers didn't intend or thought possible.

It is absolutely amazing that people are still developing for these old systems. Go visit Revival studios at

Kudos to Martijn!

Oh and this and his other games actually have the ability to put your highscores on-line.

After reaching a certain high-score you'll be able to place them on the website with a special code generated from within the game. :) How is that for Microsoft Live and the PSN! Even with the old 8-bit systems one is able to have on-line high-score tables!

I read on AtariAge, that Kristof took more than a week to respond to order enquiries.

So 1 it is then. Thanks again for the heads-up. Hopefully I'll hear back from him in about a week.

Hello Bill,
Kristof the author is already taking orders. He did tell me he was going to put up the ordering page last week. But I guess he's been snowed under with enquiries.

Here's a tip: If you put Vector Pilot as a search word in Google, the ordering page and more info will come up in the second entry.

Awesome, Ian, thanks! Do you recommend any one of the three overlays over any of the others? It looks like overlay 1 might provide the best experience, but I like the look of overlay 3...

I've been anxiously awaiting

I've been anxiously awaiting Vector Pilot's release (or, more specifically, the ordering page being active)...

It's also a good example of not simply doing a straight up remake, but being inspired by the original. I much prefer that over trying to make arcade perfect recreations...

Vector Pilot is awesome

If you want to see the best Vectrex game there is take a look at my video of Vector Pilot.
This in my opinion has pushed off Protector from the number one spot for best Vectrex home brew. The overlay is beautiful and as you can see really does add to the illusion of colour graphics. The game play is just like the original Time Pilot plus adds a lot more.
