I'm pretty excited about this - a 7800 in a box with hi-score cart function ,pokey, and expansion module built in, PAL/NTSC modes and composite (or maybe s-video) connections. Was looking at the flashback 3 but that looks poor compared to this.

Looks like it will resemble the lovely 3200 protoype too:-

Controllers to have 2600/7800 mode switch but console will also take legacy controllers.

I find it hard to believe something this good will be made.....

yeah - i'm not holding my breath!!

In the meantime I've been finding disassemblies of 2600 ROMS and creating PAL60 versions of ROMS for use with my Harmony cartridge by coding the PAL colours while using the NTSC frame control code and have enjoyed a fair bit of success. I have links to the PAL60 ROMS I have created at www.davykelly.com. There's also a PAL60 thread I started over at atariage.com http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/193459-pal60-roms

I'm running out of existing disassemblies and am now forced to start looking at creating my own now - which will take some time....

No, only Curt Vendel is very, very late. A few weeks or months is one thing. He's typically at least a year with his stuff, and that's just for the stuff that gets out.

Look forward to seeing your review Bill. I'm looking for something that will let me experience 2600 games at 60Hz - not easy in PAL land.

I have a woody and Harmony for my 2600 needs and that will keep me going perhaps until this new Vendel unit appears....

I'll be putting my Flashback

I'll be putting my Flashback 3 review up in the next day or two, complete with video. It's not comparable to Curt's new project, of course, just the previous Flashbacks.

I am very friendly with Curt and admire Legacy Engineering, with the caveat that they're typically very, very late in delivering hobbyist projects. The 7800 XM is still not available for wide release, for instance.
