Sounds neat. Probably not the best thing for your social life, though.

The dating comments are probably inevitable. I had a friend back in college who had a dozen or so Transformers toys suspended from strings in his apartment. Then he'd complain about how lonely he was and ask why he could only get ugly chicks to hang out with him. There's certain things that not even Johnny Depp or George Clooney could pull off.

I guess what would scare me about these glasses is that it's like wearing a blindfold as far as your environment is concerned. I'd get nervous of what was happening around me and want to take them off. Maybe I'm just the paranoid type, but I like to be aware of my surroundings at all times. I'm the kind of nut that chooses a table and seat in a restaurant based on how well I can see the entrance and exits. Don't ever sit me facing a wall or I'll wear out my neck constantly looking over my shoulder.

Ok now it think you are messing with me :) there was just an story on MSN and strange habits of stars..

You mentioned transformers.. Lenardo DeCaprio is a HUGE toy figure collector,.. and (this is why i think you are messing with me) Johnny Depp admits he played with barbies with his girls.. but once he did he now does it to enhance his acting, he plays scenes out with barbie dolls... and after all, isnt that what all little girsl do? heheheh

its funny the 3 news sites i saw with this all mentioned it was going to ruin your dating life in some way :) now I might be wrong, but ... i seldom take a date gameing :) and if i did.. I would make sure they had a set too, would not make them watch me play! and if we are both wearing um.. where both geeks so we wont care :)

I had a set of of these a few years back, actually have tried 3 sets, all at different times. The tech is a bit like 3D, its looks pretty dang good for a short bit then your brain sorta explodes from your eyes trying to focus in a strange way. Luckly for me this stuff while never a huge seller has some resale value, i nver lost more then 10-20% when i resold mine.. I even picked up a set on WOOT (or some other deal site) about 4 months ago for $80.. this set

havent spent the time to open them.. first ones I have bought in about a year again.. Now you have made me think I need ot open this set i just got.. I actually bought them for VR flying.. not PC but the actual SMALL RC planes, one of my hobbies is RC plane flying and my buddy has a pretty cool VR setup, he uses a auto tracking Dish (an old directional antenna) this estends the range of the Plane to basicly line of site. You take a really light plane ( glider type) and put a small motor on it.. instant 40-60 minute flight times if done carefully (how you fly is most important) and you can fly several miles away as long as you stay up high enough for line of site. its kinda neat as you get a pilot eye view (we mount a camera and transmit back, so the guy flying get it on his VR glasses, and we record it to watch later).. its a wierd experiance flying over you.. seeing you from the plane.. almost out of body. Quite fun.. Unfortnalty the glasses are the sticking point.. so fr i cant wear them very long without eye strain.. Since the newer 3D glasses I can handle for a movie now (old ones i couldnt handle more than maybe 5-10 minutes) I keep hoping the VR glasses will get better too.
