The PlayStation Network (PSN) is now 100% back in the US and Wizardry returns!

Labyrinth of Lost Time (PS3)Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Time (PS3)As you've all no doubt already heard, PSN is 100% back in many parts of the world, including right here in the US. This of course means that the Welcome Back Program is now available to download all the free goodies to your PS3. I'll be getting to that tonight, though I'm not sure what I'll ultimately pick. In any case, I'll report back in the comments what I ultimately chose. In related news, Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls is now available on PSN, marking the return of a series that has received continuous, but sporadic, releases since the Apple II original in 1981, though some of those were only in Japan. Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls looks to be a definite return to the series' roots, albeit with a love-it-or-leave-it anime style. I'm firmly in the "leave it" camp, but being able to play classic-style Wizardry again might trump any misgivings over the visuals.

OK, in looking over the list, the decision was pretty easy. Since I already have LittleBigPlanet on disc, that leaves inFAMOUS and Wipeout HD + Fury as my best values on the PS3 side. On the PSP side, I'll try for LittleBigPlanet and ModNation Racers, both of which I already have on the PS3. Hopefully everything goes smoothly tonight...

dang.. I have no vestment (as in never put any money in) in the PSN but I love wizardry... This is (from my understanding) a translated and updated game from japan that was released in 2009). Looks VERY old school, which might be good, might be bad. Just watched some videos, very much wizardry in the dungons, and {unfortantly} very asian before it, static pictures, and menus when not in the dungeon crawl. I am so on the fence on thies one...

Infamous is dang good game...

I was never a fan, but that ain't "Wizardry!!!!!" It might play like a "Wizardry" game, but if you change the vibe that much, don't call it "Wizardry."

If you create a "Mario" game, but change Mario into a blood-stained cyborg lizard, it isn't a "Mario" game anymore, even if it plays exactly like a Mario game. Now, I'm going to have nightmares about my old D&D campaign, where every character is replaced with a cutesy anime image!!!!

That ain't Wizardry!!!!

Already grabbed mine

After many errors and restarts I finally got my games for both the PSP and the PS3. Lots of issues trying to get them.

For the PS3 I got Dead Nation and Wipeout HD Bundle...For the PSP I got Killzone Liberation and Pursuit Force.

When you go to get them, make sure that you put both Welcome back item in your cart and go thru the checkout process.
Then put your games in the cart and go thru checkout. (It may help to do them one at a time)

If your welcome backs disappear while doing this due to errors and such, Here's some advice I found online somewhere that helped me find them and eventually get the games so that I can download them:

1. On your PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable navigate to the PlayStation Network icon on the XMB
2. Log into your PlayStation Network account and choose Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List
3. Choose “PlayStation Network Promotions” from the list of services displayed
4. Select either “PS3 Free Games” or “PSP Free Games” and then choose “Select Content”

Maybe trying to do this during low traffic hours will help.

No chance yet to turn on the PS3 / PSP and download

The thing with the ' welcome back ' presents is that sadly I already own quite a bit of what is on offer...

Here's the thing about the "Japanification" of Wizardry. Clearly these guys love the series, which is why they continue it. It's not their fault that there aren't Western developers/publishers that feel the same. Of course they'll do it in the anime style. Yes, it's sad, and yes, it makes it feel less like Wizardry, but I give them credit for doing it, and doing it in a seemingly authentic manner.

By the way, PSN is still

By the way, PSN is still glitching out on my end, so no downloads for me as of yet. Guess they're still being hammered with requests. No rush, though...

I've had no problems with the downloads....just getting to that point. :) Usually you can get thru the errors by hitting the back button 'O' and then the 'X'...and you eventually get there.
