I have a lunch day 360 and was one of those "mine still works perfect" guys on all the RROD forums. Well with about 80 games sitting unplayed I started fireing a few up this weekend and .... my 360 has decided to grumble. It started with Disc read errors on new discs. I put this down to possilby a bad disc, but it started to happen a bit more and I knew I was going to be saying some choice words. This was not a heat issue as I let it sit overnight and same thing.
So my question is: I have a lunch day with a 250G HD, i know i cant swap my HD to the new one, but with the new slim model can i transfer may account and HD contents over? originaly i had a 20G and it said i could transfer my stuff "1" time in the instructions. I'm assuming i can transfer it again, but the new slim, is it compatible? Anybody done this? I see you can get a new slim for $300, not cheap but not to bad. Not to excited about transfering accounts, hope its fairly painless.

Mind you if you get another 360 the harddrive is a completely different form factor. You can select what you want copied so the size of the new drive doesn't have to be equal. You do need a transfer cable and a special boot disc.

I have that from my first swap 20 to 250, i assume that one will work again it was just USB i believe (been awhile).

Yeah, that will work. That's the one I've used twice already. I'm going to use it a third time when I eventually go from my old white unit to the new S we got to write the book.

Mine got pretty full until I went up to the 250GB, but that's because I downloaded every XBLA demo ever released.

Yes, you can transfer it

Yes, you can transfer it again. Microsoft removed the restriction in one of the later system updates. You need to go from 250GB to 250GB in your case, though.

You don't have to as long as you're logged in as yourself, but once you get everything on the new box, you can transfer all of your old licenses over as well so you can use everything offline: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Support/LicenseMigration/Home . You can only do that once every four months.
