In my final segment with Star Control creators Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III, we discuss a range of issues including abandonware, their 90s games for 3DO and Playstation, and their plans for Star Control 4. We even talk about their choice of alcoholic beverage! I went through a brief fruity drink phase myself, mostly because one of the local Chinese restaurants in Natchitoches, Louisiana had insanely cheap rum drinks (Zombies, Mai-Tais, etc.) that came in really funky (even scary) looking mugs. Anyway, here's the video!

You can also download the MP4.

Really? I never played it

Really? I never played it before this video, and the only briefly. It looks like a pretty interesting game, and of course there's the trademark quirky humor and cheerful sounds and graphics. I might have to delve a little more deeply into it when I have time.

We actually ran it as a demo for a time on the 3DO when I worked at Electronics Boutique in the early-mid 90s during college. The FMV with Kirk Cameron was pretty wacky and the gameplay was an interesting mix of action and real-time strategy. Though I enjoy it a great deal, I've honestly never had a chance to play through very far (it's my understanding it loses some of its luster the farther in you go). Hopefully I can rectify that someday.
