Been an avid listener of the podcast and watching Matt Chatt every week pretty much since the beginning and after chatting to Matt thought I'd drop a mention to my own site here:
Launched back in October and the plan is to create a community for the UK NES market. Might seem a small idea with the unpopularity of the NES back then (yes it's true that Nintendo didn't conquer the world!) for the UK but with so little being dedicated on the web for the UK I thought I'd have a go.
The result is numerous reviews, comprehensive release database, articles and even magazine scans with the plan to build a community around it all. At the moment it's mainly myself writing everything but I have had the odd bit of help along the way and I'd appreciate any feedback.
I'm not a web designer and until the site came along hadn't even looked at a bit of HTML but I'm quite pleased with what I've achieved so far, anyway over to you guys.
I know a few of you have been looking forward to this but Issue 2 has finally been announced:

For those thinking the text in the left column is the articles... not this time. Just easy place holders to fill the space!
So far the team have started on several articles and some highlights include:
Religion in NES games
Castlevania (Cover) Special - A look at the NES series and some of its unique stand out points
Big Dan's Cheat Section makes a return
A look at some of the NES's Shooters
8bit wars - Classic systems go head to head
Zelda Special
Japanese Import Special
And much, much more
It will be available as a PDF like the last issue with some printed copies being available at a later date eventually as well.
Suggestions for articles are always welcome.
What can you do to help? We are open to new writers and hope even more people will get involved. So drop me a line or stop by the site.
Very pleased to announce that we managed to get Philiip Oliver of CodeMasters and Blitz Games Studios to have a chat with us about his NES days:
Wow, that does look awesome. Imagine if our issues had looked like this, Bill? :)
Reading it now! So much for getting anything done this afternoon. The layout looks great.
We hired a professional designer to do all the graphics. Really wanted it to stand out and I think we managed it :)

It's taken what seems like a lifetime but the first issue of NES-Bit Magazine System is finally live! So much work has gone into this and I really hope you guys enjoy it :)
I'm pushing for as high quality a look as possible. One thing I did before starting the mag was look at several different fanzine publications and they all seem to consist of simple fronts. With this I've really gone to town and I'm hoping it will be the same for any future issues.
Just discovered what yu are doing there! Amazing work looks very professional - well eh it IS professional!
I hope not :) Going to try and make the text stand out as much as possible. Consider these sample pages for the moment, we have 36 to work on and hoping its going to be something really special.
Couple of page samples to show off what we have done so far things are really moving fast now. A lot of people have worked hard on this and it's really coming along nicely so I would rather the work speak for itself::

In case anyone is worried there's a good mix of PAL and US stuff, even mention of the GameBoy in a NES standoff. Tried to cover as much as possible for a first issue and think there's enough for all to enjoy!
Looks fantastic, though I do have a minor "original GameFan" concern of the backgrounds overpowering the text. I can't tell from the tiny images, but I assume that won't be an issue?
