So far so good.

I installed it and started playing.....spent 2 hours. Mostly just walking around, talking to people and collecting things to sell for caps. I did complete the first couple of tasks in Goodsprings. Starting to get a feel for the game.

The opening parts are very slow, and it just isn't clear why I should care about any of the people I've met or places I've been. I'm also noticing the glitches all over the place; almost got stuck on a rock but was finally able to extricate myself.

Hopefully things will pick up soon!

Your in a town full of people who just saved your life. You want to figure out who killed you (well tried) the people who saved you dont trust you, hence you need to make nice with them, help um out..... I thouhgt it was a pretty good start myslef, but I'm biased, I loved Fallout 3. I'm not enjoying hte fact there is no way to odo all the quests really, you have to pick sides, and the sides dont like each other so you gotta choose. NONE of um are really a "good" pick, just the lesser of all evils.. Well that not true either... IMHO oneis the best choice, but... I can see some reasons to do the others too. I must admit if i had to pick one spot where I didnt like Vegas, it was the "no real direction" thing.... there where points where I was to low to do quests, and trying to figure out where to go next was somewhat hard. I never had that Problem in FO3. Of course after i figured it out, it wasnt as hard as I thought, wonderlust had got the better of me and I had strayed from the path (so to speak).

I finished it yesterday at about 120 hours. I started playing "Risen" it looks dang good too... More traditional RPG (swords and fantasy) Impressive graphics, and a action type battle system ( i like those).

New Vegas

I bought it at launch and put an hour or two into it and thought it was just more of the same. Then I put the disk back in after completing Medal of Honor, finally got into the Vegas strip (not easy) and found the storyline to be amazing. I can't get enough of it now and am level 17 and have to make a decision as to which faction I'll side with for the final push through the campaign.

There are alot of graphic glitches in the game, as there are with most all of them. I've had 2 instances where the game froze. As a result, I now have over 500 saves (you can only have 100 at a time without rewriting them).

I still give it a solid 4.5 out of 5 for the enriched graphics, storyline, new factions, and new weapons.

Cheers

I have read about eh game

I have read about eh game eraseing ones.. I might be agreeing with your brother if that happned to me. but thankfully it hasnt. I just got donw ith a marthone 6 hour session and am now 30 (max level) but have a ton of quest to do yet, and have only discovered about 60 locations (is a acheviment for 75 so i need ot look some more).

I did encounter (i think) my first game altering bug ( and found an infint exp bug, but wont mention that(again, luckly i found it at max level or I may have been tempted to use it). I cleaned an area (looted it) and sold quest Items I need i think.. and vendors refresh items very 3 days... may be gone for good (not 100% sure yet). one quet I cant complete, hope it was end of a quest chain.. yep it was chain quest

My brother bought it, so I

My brother bought it, so I asked him about it. He emphatically told me not to bother. I was surprised because he loved Fallout 3. Apparently 20 hours into the game, it crashed and when he came back it had erased his saved games. That sucks. That almost sucks as bad as the bug I had with God of War 3 where the game hung, and when I came back all of my saves were gone. I was at the final battle with Zeus too. I turned my controller in to a football in the endzone and spiked it so damn hard it hit the ceiling. Luckily though, researching online found a fix and I was able to recover the saves and finish the game, but still. Apparently there is no fix for the eating of saved games in Fallout Vegas as of yet. Boy was my brother mad though.

fallout NV is really just

fallout NV is really just fallout 3.5, not much new. If you enjoyed 3, you will enjoy NV, if not... wouldnt get it.

Vatts: sadly if you thought it was bad in 3 (it was god mode IMHO) in that game. Its alot less forgiving in this one. the FPS side has been beefed up and is better (but still vry poor , but its not a FPS is it). the 100% isnt 100% , I know WTF? its just a guess. if you are point blank, you should be able to hit 100% of the time, but you wont. All the guns in Fallout have a Spread, so even point blank you can Miss, strange I admit, but just part of the game (of course it can be bugs with terrain too, a rock and some reasan the game says you cant see target when its in plain site.. 100%=0% when the target stepped on some freaking pebble the game engine cant work with).

And yes it bugged, and if you read reviews it a mess. But Honesly have had about 6 crashs in 90 hours of play so far. Far less then i had in 3.. but if the forums are to be believed, im lucky.

I haven't had a chance to

I haven't had a chance to play Fallout:Vegas yet. Although, if it's in the same vein as Fallout 3, I may pass. Fallout 3 was a good game, but there were just some aspects of the engine I didn't like. When using V.A.T.S the percentages were always incorrect. There were many a times when the percentage read 100% and I would miss 5 shots in a row. How can you miss when you are guaranteed to hit? It wasn't like the target was moving as I tended to sneak up on things. The general bugginess of the engine didn't help either, and if Obsidian's track record is anything to go by, I will wait until the fans release a patch to fix all the broken bits of the game as what happened with KOTOR2.
