Hey guys! I was checking out the books in goodwill and decided to take a look at the games since they have some pretty good stuff sometimes. To my surprise they had a original copy of Dungeon Master II, and behind it, a copy of Ultima VI. I bought it as it was only $4.00! Got it home and pulled it open. Spent a while reading the book and looking over the map. Then I flipped to the bottom and found...... 7 5.25" diskettes. I, unfortunately don't own a drive for that sort of diskette.

So I was wondering if anyone knows of any places to get a hold of an outboard drive. There was a coupon within the box that would allow someone to send in the disks to be replaced with 3.5" disks but I doubt that is still valid after so long.

I have an old 5.25 drive here

I have an old 5.25 drive here that's not in use. If you have a spare slot in your classic gaming computer you can have it if you want. Just let me know. I have a habit of hoarding old things like that so if there is something you are looking for don't hesitate to ask. If I don't have it, I might be able to find it.

There are USB to 5.25" disk

There are USB to 5.25" disk drive adapters, but you still need to supply the drive and power to it (I believe a Teac drive is generally recommended). I have such a setup, but have not had a chance to put it through its paces so I don't know if it's applicable to your particular situation.

Honestly, your best bet is just to "pirate" a copy of Ultima VI, since you own the originals. You can get it running in DosBox or run one of the other versions of the game in emulation. Even though I own a few versions of the original, that's probably what I'll end up doing as well for convenience. Personally, I think the key for this type of game is the packaging, not necessarily on the originality of the platform it's being played on.
