30 Mind-Blowing Old PC Ads

Rob Daviau's picture

Here is a cool article I came across on TechXilla Website, interesting to look at these old PC ads and comparing them with today's machines. These would be good to show people whining about PC prices today lol! At one time a 10MB cost over $3000! Can you imagine? A couple interesting "celebrity" endorsements appear as well most should be satisfied with the inclusion of Atari and Commodore brands among othersl. Not the greatest comments accompany the article but the Ads themselves are gold, enjoy!

It's all good.

Really as far as I am concerned it was over the moment I replied.

Really good stuff, good find.

One minor gripe: "These would be good to show people whining about PC prices today lol!" I'm not sure about using "lol" at the end of a sentence like that; makes you sound a bit more like a YouTube commenter than you probably want.

lol!!!!

But seriously, Mr. Burgun, you are clearly an accomplished game creator. That's something most (all) of us dreamed we could be, but never accomplished. Your passion for the true heart of gaming is infectious and admirable, especially when you've actually "put up" and created an actual game.

Seriously, though, criticizing someone for posting "lol" is quite nitpicky. "LOL" has become standard Internet-age parlance. I don't know who your comment was directed at, (Rob/MaximumRD??!?!?), but keep in mind that most of the principal AA "masthead" contributors not only are active Youtube commenters, but have active videos on Youtube as well!

In this case, I say this with profound admiration for you, your passion, your accomplishments, your strong opinions, and your talent. Seriously, "LoL???" That's just nitpicky in the grand scheme of things. Lighten up. No one of your caliber should seriously be bothered by such insignificant trivialities.

Hehe, poor ol' Rob has taken

Hehe, poor ol' Rob has taken enough flack over this post already. Obviously, it should be taken for what it is, a funny little piece with some enjoyable photos. I don't think he was attempting to write a critical essay on the subject. :P

Agreed. I think our readers

Agreed. I think our readers know the difference between when we casually post and when do a formal feature. We need the flexibility to do it all.

Nah, I don't think any of us

Nah, I don't think any of us around here get offended much. I've rarely if ever seen anything resembling a low blow or offensive. Most of us are adults and can take it. Even at our "worst" we're still better than most other places. Sometimes tempers rise and discussions get heated, but there's nothing wrong with that.
