Xbox Indie games are still not available in the Netherlands. It is unclear when they will be available in the Netherlands. Dutch Microsoft spokesman, Thijs van Doorn, says "...it is a matter of resources...". Probably they just don't think it is economically viable to pay for license fees in the small country of the Netherlands.
The same happened with the Video store not being available in the Netherlands. Of course there are a lot of games on the service not worth the download, but there are some gems that the Dutch are missing out on dearly.
Well the Xbox Live Indie games aren't downloadable via the Xbox Marketplace in finland either, although finnish creators can get their stuff ON XBLIG. It's really unfair, man. I mean, XBLIG is already open in UK and Sweden, so why can't it be open here as well?
It is quite unfair. At the one hand they advertise the Indie games in Europe and yet at the same time they won't cater to the smaller markets in that same area. New European legislation is underway to make it impossible for the companies to split the European area into different parts resulting in this piss poor situation for honest customers. A single license would suffice to make a game available all over Europe.
And then 'they' wonder why piracy can be such a big thing in some areas. It's tough when you can't even be a paying customer if you want to in a lot of cases.
I just don't get it why we can't enjoy the wonderful Japanese shmups on the Nintendo VC like the Japanese do.
Yes, that is a real shame. Apple has its act together - anyone can sell their home made games world-wide. I think that behind the scenes there is a lot of legal red tape in regards to tax treaties, currency conversion, invoicing, etc.
The video store has been available for a while now but it only sports a limited amount of movies. not comparable to other territories.
