I know I've not been around for a while... but I just thought I'd tease y'all! Have not had time to stick it in the C128DCR yet (still have my jiffydos chips here to install as well).. at some point I'll get around to it.. Arrived today from Gideon in the Netherlands. It has the firmware with the bricking bug, so I need to update it but Gideon has not released RC5 yet, supposedly pretty soon....

Looks great.. I just modded

Looks great.. I just modded my Commodore 64 and 1541 with JiffyDOS and placed an order for two Easyflash carts which I'm waiting for right now. I've been holding off on ordering a 1541 Ultimate II until I see what the Chameleon is like... but they keep pushing the release date on that back. I figure the longer I wait, the more kinks they get to work out in the 1541U2 firmware anyway.

As far as solid-state drives go, I'm using an uIEC/SD. I also pre-ordered a ZoomFloppy to convert my disk library over to D64's. (Reviews on this as soon as I get it)

Anyway, I'd love to hear about your experiences with the cart.

Once I saw the first couple

Once I saw the first couple of units go out, I paid up, I was waiting too, but I just sent money over once the first few people started getting them. I ordered 3-27, paid 5-31 and it shipped 7-8, arrived last Friday. I think 180 units are out in the wild now.

Yeah that's true. They

Yeah that's true. They should have sent out emails before the first production run. I got tired of waiting and emailed them before I paid. No big deal, I can understand how a highly technical person would not be the greatest at customer service.

They are doing another production run. Hopefully now that the hardware is finalized, and the firmware just needs a few bugs ironed out, they'll handle the orders a bit better. I wouldn't sit on my hands though. Go ahead and email them to make sure they know you're still interested and so they'll order enough in the second batch.

I have the cart in my hands now. It's heavier than I thought, and very well put together. Nothing is loose at all. One thing I noticed is that the PCB is quite a bit
thicker than those of the original C64 carts I have. I hope it doesn't wreck my slot. Although, if this thing is as good as it should be I'd have no problem just soldering it in place.

The guy who puts these out is

The guy who puts these out is pretty unresponsive. I'd certainly love one and have put my name in to be contacted with order details way-back-when, but honestly, I'm not just going to send money over blindly and then wait blindly.

Yay!

Mine is waiting for me at the PO to pick up this afternoon. I was just getting into spending some quality time with my Apple IIgs, but that will have to wait a while now. :D The hard part is going to be deciding what to do first. Anyone happen to know if Great Giana Sisters works well with the RGBI output of a C128? That's one I'd like to play, but it's glitchy on NTSC.
