Yeah, Atari's arcade Football was definitely a classic, but really I think they could have have attempted something a bit more detailed by the time of Blitz's release. With that said, I'd have to play it again on the Vectrex to see if it feels particularly smooth, i.e., if there are any advantages to that design decision other than mimicry.

I always love "alternative"

I always love "alternative" games on the Vectrex, i.e., games that you think would have no real right being on a vector-based system. They did a nice job with the visuals on Heads Up Soccer and the unreleased baseball game, but they kind of dropped the proverbial ball on the football game (Blitz!), using just x's and o's (squares). They could have gotten bit more imaginative.
