I found this via a Lifehacker.com article. "D-Fend Reloaded" apparently is a MS-DOS emulator geared towards running old DOS games easily on Windows without all the DOSBox configuring, and is thus suitable for beginners. And, it's freeware!

As near as I can tell, D-Fend is a retooled DOSBox with an easy Windows front-end. For more information, visit the link here for the Lifehacker article, with instructions on where to get "D-Fend" for yourself.

I'm not a big fan of shells,

I'm not a big fan of shells, so that's my main reason for using it (I also use frontends for mame and such). But D-Fend Reloaded is really nice.

D-Fend is a Dosbox shell

So D-Fend is a Dosbox Gui, a shell. You're basically running the same DosBox. On OS X there's a very nice utility called Boxer, with Boxer you'll be able to drag a directory with a Dos Game onto the Boxer Icon and a self contained OS X executable will be created with a version of DosBox and the game as recourses. I've in fact created many of these runnable executables and have used screenshots or box-art to give the executables a nice appearance. Just double click and you're away. Excellent stuff!

A friend of mine uses

A friend of mine uses D-Fend. I've only used dosbox, myself. I'll probably look into it the next time I do a dosbox engine refresh. Nice info, Rob.

Interesting. I downloaded it along with all the demo packs, the price is right!
