Here's a link to one of the first "reviews" I've seen of the new Netflix support on the Wii platform. The included link has an attached video demonstration.

In Canada your options for online video is extremely limited. No Hulu or Netflix. iTunes has some OK content. Our various national broadcasters have some truly abominable Flash player pieces of crap.

I forgot about Redbox, but I

I forgot about Redbox, but I agree, that's another major factor. PlayOn.TV duplicates some of the functionality built into the 360 and PS3 to be sure, but even with stuff it duplicates, it makes it far, far easier to access. It's free to try, then like $30 for a lifetime license. You can't beat that. I especially like that they just added MLB.TV support, which makes it a cheaper option than paying for a cable or satellite MLB subscription.

Netflix is great!

Netflix is indeed a great service, and the streaming video service is itself worth the price of the monthly subscription. The ability to have videos delivered by mail in a quick fashion is the gravy on top. If Netflix doesn't expand to the European markets soon, they might be beaten to the punch by another European-based service.

I think the "Redbox" phenomenon has at least as much, if not more, to do with the downfall of of the video rental store, though.

Thanks for the link to the Playon.tv service. I never heard of it before, but it looks like a great deal!

SD only, like the console

Exactly, no HD, only on the dedicated setup boxes, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. It doesn't *need* HD per se, of course, but since more and more stuff is coming in HD, it is kind of unfortunate, but that's the nature of the console. I think Netflix is only a US thing and is a near perfect service, and pretty much single handedly put all of our video stores out of business.

I love Netflix and watch it

I love Netflix and watch it all the time, though I'm pretty set on its usage on the 360, where there are no restrictions like on the Wii or requiring a disc (at the moment) like on the PS3. Of course Netflix could already be watched via PlayOn, which I also highly recommend: http://www.playon.tv/ .
