Wii Fitness for Dummies now available!

Bill Loguidice's picture

I'm happy to announce that our latest book, Wii Fitness for Dummies, available soon from booksellers everywhere, is listed as being in stock on Amazon.com starting February 8, 2010. Wii Fitness for Dummies focuses on three of the top Wii fitness programs, Wii Fit Plus, EA Sports Active: Personal Trainer, and Jillian Michaels Fitness Utimatum 2010, as well as additional coverage of the entire Wii fitness phenomena. You can use Amazon's nifty Look Inside feature to take a look at a low resolution version of a sampling of the book's contents (or see PDF excerpts here), and check out the Cheat Sheet for the book on Dummies.com. We have an official book page up on Armchair Arcade, where we'll soon be posting weekly bonus content that didn't fit in the book, as well as providing links to all mentioned above and more, including a Table of Contents (TOC) and the official Facebook discussion page. Finally, since March is Dummies Month at booksellers everywhere, we're happy to announce that Wii Fitness for Dummies is one of the featured publications in that promotion. As always, feel free to ask any questions, as both Christina and I will be happy to help. More news to follow on a regular basis, so stayed tuned!

Thanks, Mark. There are certain minor regional differences with the various programs, particularly in how they do weight (pounds in the US version, naturally) and sometimes in how they name exercises. I know this variation is in the American, Canadian, Japanese and British versions of Wii Fit/Wii Fit Plus, though I'm not sure what they do in other regions or how it's handled in the other programs covered in the book. Naturally, we only focused on the US versions of the games, since that was all we had access to and that's our primary market. Interestingly, our technical reviewer (fact checker/verifier), Didi Cardoso, of Gamer's Intuition, is Canadian, so she noted minor computational anomalies.

Bill, did you get your copy yet?

My copy of "Wii Fitness for Dummies" is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, yet I haven't heard anything from you about you two having a copy of your own book. Did you two even get a copy yet??? If not, is it possible I will get a copy before y'all????

It's quite possible. No, we have not received our copies. It seems like all the reviewers received their copies (or at least most of them). Crazy, right?

By the way, it looks like we're thisclose to signing a new deal with the Dummies people for a non-videogame book (their suggestion). Sort of out of nowhere. When we finalize it, I'll of course let everyone know.

I got my copy a few days

I got my copy a few days ago. Haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I've managed to skim through it and read a few of the articles. It's obviously geared for people with Wii Fit Plus or one of its alternates (duh), but is still 100% up to full AA quality. Even if you don't have a Wii, you'll probably enjoy the enthusiasm and broad expertise that Christina and Bill bring to the subject.

Got my copy

I don't have time to give any details, but I got "Wii Fitness For Dummies" today. It looks like a "Dummies" book, but an initial flip-through reveals a great deal more images than other Dummies books I have seen. It looks like there are lots of pictures of Bill in various workout poses, plus plenty of screenshots. I noticed there appear to be no problems with the way the screenshots turned out; everything is clearly visible even in black-and-white.

Well, the book definitely exists, because I have it now. Congratulations, Christina and Bill!

Thanks. There should be some shots of Christina in there too. We tried to mix them up. We do have to fix some of the images for the next printing (I think some of the ones in Chapter 9) because there's not enough contrast in the originals to show up correctly in black and white, but I haven't seen it live to know exactly what our contact at the publisher was referring to.

Hey Bill, congratulations. A

Hey Bill, congratulations. A book is a lot of work for little reward financially at least. I wonder what the differences for Canada would be. Official government documents use metric but informally everyone still uses feet & inches and pounds to measure themselves.
