Was given a Kindle for Christmas - its the 2nd gen one that is available in the UK. The display is glorious - absolutely incredible. My wife put a couple of novels on it as part of the gift and I'm test driving this device by reading one of them. All I can say is that I'm enjoying the novel ("The Pawn") - the device isn't getting in the way of the experience which is really what it is all about.
It is odd not having to scroll text on a device - something we are all used to via a browser or other handheld device - the page turn takes a second - about the same time as turning a page in a real book - so you get used to it pretty quickly as it doesn't change "how you read" - if you get what I mean.
The 3G experience is good though I haven't really done any major browsing on the Amazon shop yet (which I can do through my Amazon account on my PC as well should I feel the need). The UI is non-intrusive and clearly well though out.
Initial impressions are very good - I can't really find anything wrong with it so far. I am delighted with it in fact - will report back later.
A belated "Merry Christmas" to all of you AA regulars and staff!
