Matt Chat on Star Control II

Matt Barton's picture

Hi, folks. This week I look at one of those great DOS games from the early 90s--Star Control II.

I also cover some of the precursors (ahem) such as Spacewar, the Traveller RPG, and of course Starflight.

I was talking about KOTOR on the Xbox. I doubt I'd have time to show the BG game for consoles; I'm imagining that it's going to be pretty tough to squeeze a good description into 10 minutes.

It's a completely different type and series anyway. It's just set in the same world.

I notice there's a version for the Gamecube. I wonder if that'd be a good purchase for my Wii?

It should be functionally the same as the PS2 and Xbox versions. The PS2 was the lead platform. It's definitely best played with two simultaneous players. I think the sequel may have only been released on the PS2 and Xbox.

Of course you also can't use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk with GameCube games, so you'll need two more controllers. Luckily used GC controllers are cheap.
