Hi, guys. I've been working on a new theme for AA and thought you might want to check it out. Just go to "my account" and select the theme "AA(2)." I'm experimenting with shadowed boxes with rounded corners at the moment. It's very tough, though. I'm thinking of maybe adapting the left sidebar into box form as well. Let me know what you think.

Post Submission Process

Was just curious if it was something the user could modify from one of the "my account" or the viewing options. I didn't see it but it is something I'll get used to after awhile. No big thing.

I think in blog posts doing

I think in blog posts doing the preview first is a requirement, but for forum posts or blog comments we can probably disable it, since they're much more casual. I don't know if we break it down that much though. If it's one or the other, then I say preview has to stay on.

Two-Step Option

There is a setting to require a preview first; it's currently set to on. I suppose we could turn it off. I actually like to have it on, since it gives me a chance to look for typos, but if the consensus is we should turn it off, so be it.

Experimental

I switched to Experimental and don't see a difference from when I first visited awhile back...meaning the original theme. I still like the Drupal best as it offers the smaller font all around...actually everything looks a bit smaller which makes viewing everything better...just me though.

Question regarding the posting of Forum responses. Is there always going to be the two-step process for posting; "Preview Comment" and then "Post Comment"?

Blue Drupal

Picked Blue Drupal and I like it. Much more room to see the entire screen this way. Will play around with the others once my eyes adjust to the "blue".

IE Problem

Yes, I noticed the IE problem on my computer, but I'm running an old version of IE (can't update due to the new validation "feature" on WindowsUpdate). However, I didn't see the problem on my wife's machine (which has the latest IE).

I'm still trying to find the best way to solve the resizing issue. I can simply make the box bigger, but there will always be some point where it'll break. I'm running 1024 X 768 here and didn't have the problem when the text size was set to normal. I just put in a "max-width" parameter, so test it out and see if it's still breaking.

I'd think there should be a way to stretch the boxes however large we need, but I'm not there yet with my CSS. I used this site to figure out how to do what I've done already.

Problem with the new theme

The theme looks nice! Alas, it doesn't work properly yet. For a screenshot of the first problem click here. Note that this problem only occurs when the browser window is resized above a certain size. It affects all articles. Furthermore, if you resize the window too small, the header of the first article on a page stops align properly to the article body. At certain sizes in IE, the picture with the article dissappears, or jumps to a strange position. Firefox doesn't seem to suffer from this. Oh, the joys of liquid design in CSS! ;)

Clearing FF Cache

Also, don't forget--Firefox and IE tend to cache a bunch of graphics, so if you dont' clear the cache (clear private data in FF) you might not see the changes.

AA-Graphics

Elizabeth has been working on some different graphics for the site. Perhaps in a few days she'll have some ready to show. The last one I saw was a blue collage of game accessories and controllers.

There are a few gnats with the CSS that still plague me. For instance, I'd still like the blogs to look better when you click them. I don't think a giant shadow box is the answer, but I'm not sure what else would look nice there.

I like your ideas for the sidebar. I'll try to experiment some more and see if I can come up with anything interesting. I tried small shadowboxes yesterday, but that didn't look as good as I hoped (clashed with the blog section).
