Slightly concerned

I am posting here with a slight concern - it is about the content of the blogs posted by the staff.

Is this site simply going to become another "talk about the news" site? I am aware that articles are being written and that these take time, AND that the site is beta, but I would rather have conversations about occasional articles and some major news items than have the site just turn into "yet another news site" - there are plenty of others that do that..

Just a thought.

I actually fail to see your

I actually fail to see your point, Davy. The articles will come and we`ll have more stuff soon, as well as lots of visitors. There are forums available for use. So what if we post lots of blog entries? We like it and it keeps content flowing constantly and also between articles and issues. Everything is the same as the old site (our news on the old aa served the same purpose as the blogs now), just more. I'm curious what you'd rather we do? =================================

I think I was trying to say

I think I was trying to say that AA (at least to me) has been about the articles and the forums - not really the news. I have always got that from elsewhere.

News certainly is important - especially if it starts up a good response , but I'd rather have someone like yourself's take on a pertinent news item instead of the site becoming just a merge of content from other sites - if you see what I mean.

Of course this takes time.. something that is pretty precious when a site isn't a full time thing. Its just that I picked up a feeling that the forums were something that are not now actively encouraged and that the blog element was to be the main focus.

I think I'm just slightly confused about the new "strategy" - perhaps things will be clearer in time.

That's just it. The blog posts and the forums serve the same purpose as the old news and forums from the original site, just with more flexibility.

Our plans are to do most everything via the blogs and leave the forums there to evolve in any way that our members choose.

We'll be posting new articles soon, which we'll compile into an issue, just like the old days, so yes, there will be an issue 8. At the same time, we'll probably do a "best of" print version which will be available for purchase (probably a roughly 100 page perfect bound book with a color cover and black and white interior). Going forward we'll continue to do simultaneous e-publications and print publications.

In any case, I do hope it's somewhat clear what we're doing, which is really the same and then more than what was done in the past. As for more active posters and what-not, just like with the old site being dead, this new one will pick up once we re-establish the issue format and advertise on the general Web. It's a simple forumla and one where once we get all the traffic back, I believe we'll be able to sustain it this time.

Any thoughts or suggestions, especially from you, are always welcome.
