Never got these myself, but at least they've been putting them out for quite some time.

Little miss gamer is very cool - nice entertaining video

I really love the episode where Little Miss Gamer is addicted to Zuma. Probably my profession ;-)

This is the first one I've

This is the first one I've watched, and was suitably impressed with the quality. A bit silly, perhaps, but still nice work. I was just thinking how incredibly rare it must be to find a girl like Little Miss Gamer. What, 1 in 10 million? Love to see girls who aren't ashamed of their gaming heritage.

I'm not sure what you exactly mean by your comment. There are tons of "geek" girls out there in my experience. Admittedly not many of them make videos.

I never knew what to make of PBC Productions' "Little Miss Gamer" series. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be purposely bad or it's just the style they chose. I'd be much more forgiving if they not trying to pass themselves off as (or were actually in this case) some type of "pros".

From the Website:
"Little Miss Gamer is - Lindsey “Z.” Briggs
Puppeteer, Actress, Puppet Builder, Webdesigner, Production Manager and many other such hats, Z. is a SUNY Fredonia and University of Connecticut Alum, and has since gone on to pursue her dream of Puppetry. She is currently performing as “Lottie Lamb” on the PBS kids show - “Seemore’s Playhouse”
"

It's why I never posted the news about new episodes they sent us before. I just can't quite put my finger on why I personally don't care for the whole thing.

Maybe it's just that they're trying to make it look like a sitcom or something. It's definitely not straight up like most gamer or tech stuff. It kinda reminds me of, I don't know, maybe something like Clarissa Explains it All, if you remember that old show. Definitely campy and occasionally cringe worthy, but I admire all the hard work (and no doubt money) they have put into this.

That's totally what we're going for. A more quirky kind of show that talks about issues gamers face. I'm always interested to hear what folks think of the show and really appreciate your comments. :)

Thanks so much for posting the episode and giving the show a chance.

Money? Again, I have the utmost respect for anyone who can put out a semi-regular production, but I see nothing there that says "budget" of any type.

I was mostly impressed with the lighting, camera work, audio quality, editing, etc. Sure, it's not as sleek as something you'd see on G4, but it's several notches higher than the typical game-related YouTube. :)

I can't believe you weren't impressed when she pulled out that full Coleco Adam system and all those packaged games.

BTW, it's cool that apparently one of the show's creators commented on this post. :)

I think I can. Well, maybe not, but I'll speak for myself. As a guy in my 40's, I found myself perplexed at the beginning "storyline" and the icky "humming" soundtrack. It seemed I was not in the demographic group the episode was aiming at.

However, once the show got past the "storyline" and she pulled out the Adam and started playing it, the primal gaming beast in me awakened. The tone of the show turned more serious and informative. The mostly-pristine condition of the Adam and games was impressive, and the commentary and videogame demonstrations were fun and engaging without being silly.

Bill, I suspect that if they cut out the beginning and ending "storyline" parts and got right to the point where she pulls out Adam, you'd be singing a totally different tune. As it is, the show seems (based on this one episode) to be an odd mixture of low-budget PBS-style educational programming aimed at pre-teens, and serious videogame commentary. I will say that it seems reasonably well produced, with fair production values (editing, lighting, etc.), except for that hideous "humming" soundtrack. And "Little Miss Gamer" herself seems very likable and engaging as the host. But the soundtrack.... oh, I already mentioned that.

We're gamers, but we're also (old? cynical? overtly serious?) male adults who are not prone to "cutesy"stuff, so perhaps that's why this style of videogame program does not suit our palate. I can see young gamers finding this entertaining, though, even though the "rom/abandonware/piracy" issue might go way over their heads!

Heck, I don't know. The Coleco Adam commentary and demonstration part was very cool, though, in my opinion!

Hmm

I found it entertaining.

In fact, I thought it was well done. There are a lot of people on the internet that obtain a camera and think they can create something funny simply because they have a camera. I believe those involved in this project are far past that hump.

I thought they had good pacing, dialog, interaction, and that she seemed comfortable in front of the camera. It's a far cry from some of the things you see on youtube - those that would try to clone the angry video game nerd for instance by pairing bad acting with bad production and slinging curse words at the screen. Granted, I bet there are some good clones of him out there. I just don't know of them.

I am glad she used a genuine Adam in the video (I don't have one) and commented on the games. Her comments seemed genuine, and the pacing was good. I liked a bit of her narrative while playing the games. Choplifter was something like "don't shoot my people!" Nice.

This is the first I have seen of the videos, but I would be interested in seeing them do some commentary videos on various old games - heck I am always up for that from any artist so long as they are produced well and the commentary has substance.
