Roguelike Contest - Play the Winners!

Matt Barton's picture

John Harries has posted about a bunch of games that came out of the rec.games.roguelike.development annual event--in which contenders write roguelikes in 7 days (the 7-Day Rogue Like challenge). It looks like a fun event, and since I know some Armchair Arcadians are avid rogue fans, I thought I'd post it here. One of them (Chickhack is even written in Commodore 64 machine code!

Nobody voted for my entry :(

Nobody voted for my entry :( but it plays a lot better than some that were on the winners list. My game was too traditional I guess, instead of far out there or bizarre.

I think, this year we had the largest turn out for 7DRL entries ever, hopefully next year will be even bigger still.

You should have let us know to look for it. Can you point us to it now?

downloads

downloads here;

cymon revied it here (he used a screenshot after he used a scroll of map reveal so dont assume the screenshot is what you will see playing normally)
http://cymonsgames.retroremakes.com/2009-7drl-tomb-of-rawdin/

building the source requires libtcod + sdl installed but there are makefiles and such in the archive if you want a linux build (my native platform).

I just wanted to say thanks, this is one of the greatest short turn coding compo's out there. And I enjoy each years strange selection.

For another view look at John Harris's @play article on this site's step-sister http://www.gamesetwatch.com/column_at_play/ for a brief review of some of the 7drl submissions.
