It was very interesting meeting with three of the publishers we either have been working with or will be working with on books. The most sobering aspect was how the behind-the-scenes machinations work in the book industry, which is to say it's a tough business. One of the aspects that was pointed out to us was the value of people posting reviews on Amazon.com (or any regional Amazon). In short, the more reviews - good or bad - the better for a book, as the higher it shows up in searches and the more likely it's to be paired with another book in the auto-recommendations. So, as usual, we're asking for your help. If you want to see more books like this, please be so kind as to let your thoughts be known on Vintage Games and write a review on the relevant Amazon site. Thanks, everyone!

Great book

I received it yesterday.
It looks very good whit a lot of game I never played, there is a lot of data about these pieces of the videogame history (I had my first videogame around 1990, a Master System).

Thanks for that, ZikZak,

Thanks for that, ZikZak, it's good to hear from someone who came to gaming a bit later.

Reviews and Retro Gamer Magazine

So, so far 1 Amazon Germany review of four stars, 1 Amazon UK review of five stars, 5 Amazon US reviews averaging 4 stars and... Not much else. Anyone see anything anywhere else? I really, really wish some publications (online and off) will get some published soon...

By the way, Retro Gamer Magazine (www.retrogamer.net/) hould be using a scan I provided of the Atari's Dandy in a future article, and also will be reviewing Vintage Games, so if anyone can give us heads up when either or both of those are published, that would be appreciated. I try to buy a newsstand copy when I can, but it's a bit too cost prohibitive to subscribe as a guy in the US...

Amazon US is averaging 4.5 stars! Give yourself some credit! 4.5 stars is pretty doggone good!
(P.S. my review reads a bit better after a few days.... even though it's long, it gives a fair (IMO) picture of what a purchaser will be getting.)

I recently met a guy who subscribes to "Retro Gamer," but for some reason, I hear through the grapevine that he doesn't like me! He's cordial towards me when we talk, but it bothers me that of all people, the one retrogamer I meet doesn't like me, and I have no idea why! (As far as I know, I'm well-liked by most people, and I do like him!). Still, I'm cordial towards him, and might be able to get some info from him when he gets the issue, and I'll let you know.

The local Barnes&Noble carries Retrogamer, so I'll buy the issue when it hits the stands. If your local bookstore doesn't carry it, let me know and we can work something out.

Mark actually subscribes to Retro Gamer as well. I really only need a heads-up when both appear so I can run out to my local B&N or via some other manner to purchase the relevant copy (or copies, if they're in different issues). I don't always get to a bookstore to check it out. Thanks!
