The brothers who serve as the game's primary antagonists in Myst are trapped within two books, one red (shown here) and a blue. As the player collects pages of the appropriate color and inserts them into the books, the videos sharpen and allow the brothers to communicate more clearly with the player.

This star or astronomy puzzle in Myst is unsolvable until the player has accumulated and analyzed a number of clues. It also helps if the lights in the room are off, since otherwise the stars might be too dim to see.

Electrical machinery plays a large role in Myst’s starting world, though again players must work hard to establish a particular machine's purpose and function.
