Rutsch = rush?
Well, I'm surely no linguist but from what I know a "rush" also means/symbolizes a "movement" but includes the element of time - in the form of a haste.
A "Rutsch" on the other hand can be done quickly ("on a sled downhill") but not necessarily so ("Er rutschte langsam von der Couch" => "he slided down the couch slowly").
As one can't stop the new year from coming anyway it simply means in this context: "get well into the next year" with a tiny bit of "let it happen" but "don't go over the top and hurt yourself" if one wants to celebrate wildly.

This probably isn't relevant to anyone but I enjoyed a lovely bratwurst with apple sauerkraut last night and mustard last night from Pike Brewery last night. Also enjoyed a couple pints of their ales, which were also nice. Hoping to hit the Redhook Brewery today. I had their special "abbey style" last time and became real fan; it's only available at the brewery itself.
So far, no videogame-related events whatsoever. Well, outside of my "enjoying" Final Fantasy IV on my DS and thoroughly hating it. Why anybody would prefer such tedium and melodrama over the likes of Baldur's Gate or even Diablo II truly astounds me. I've been sorely tempted to just quit it and not even finish it, but I foolishly didn't buy any other games (except for Lego Indiana Jones, which is far and away more fun).
The only real videogame-related item I got was Fable 2 Limited Edition for the Xbox 360, and I must say it was a phenomenal choice. It's pretty much "real" role-playing and your good or evil actions have real impact on the game world and those around you. Right now I'm playing a lesbian do-gooder and will probably play it again as an evil heterosexual male once I'm done.
The world is fully realized, with superb visuals and sound. The story is tightly interwoven and you still have freedom from the beaten path. I never played the first game, but I can see with how ambitious this game is in its implementation that a first try wouldn't have been as successful (too much to bite off the first time around). This is a tremendous, almost artistic accomplishment. The world is very different too, part fairy tale, part fantasy, part medieval. It's very refreshing from the ultra realistic and/or more traditional settings.
I'm not going to bother going into more about this as I'm sure most of you already know the game intimately, but to me it's a must own for all you Xbox 360 owners out there, and I'm saying that only just after reaching adulthood with my character. I still have to explore marriage, kids, multiple dwelling ownership, more jobs (just was a blacksmith for a while), etc.
