Here's mine, which one of my daughters helped me create:

Not great, but pretty close, especially considering there are not that many options at this point.

The new interface is definitely faster, which is nice, but the execution will take some time for me to adjust to. What I really was waiting for was the streaming Netflix option and it didn't disappoint, working perfectly. It's a bit weird you have to queue up on the PC, but it certainly beats how tedious that would be using the gamepad or remote. I'm now a $9.99 a month (because of BluRay) one movie out at a time Netflix subscriber, which of course gives me unlimited streaming on a PC or the Xbox 360. Obviously I'll be doing all of my watching on the latter. Good stuff, though they definitely need to improve their streaming selection. Receiving the BluRays in the mail will certainly help with that though and there's already plenty of stuff queued up in both my streaming and mail queues. Great stuff!

NOTE: I used the < img src="http://avatar.xboxlive.com/avatar/BillLog/avatar-body.png">command to show my avatar, without the space between the < and the img

This is how

First create localized Hotmail accounts on your pc. You do this by setting a different country in the IE browser and then going to the Hotmail login. Proceed to create a new account.
Then on the xbox console create Live accounts with the same hotmail accounts as the base and kaboom you'll have all your 'localized' accounts. Be prepared to go through some 'hassle' with the Japanese account. There are a lot more dialog screens to be navigated than the US/EU accounts.

Finally my avatars are present

Lactobacillus P - Dutch account, main account this is where I do my gaming on

Markvergeerus - US account only for checking out the US demos, different interface & to see how full the video market place is compared the the empty Dutch one.

LacobacillJap - Japanese account for checking out Jap Shmup demos etc. This is alien looking.

One of my students told me

One of my students told me about this the other day - Gaia Online. I was curious so I made an avatar and checked it out, but it's really not my thing. It's about as far removed from Armchair Arcade as you can get without surgical implements. :P

The student in question likes to brag about how many clothes and accessories she has for her avatar--spent lots of money on it. It's fascinating, really, but reminds me of The Sims or maybe Second Life "lite" if you catch my drift.

Review of "NXE" from a surprising source!

One of the sites I occasionally lurk on is "Ain't It Cool News," a movie geek site. Surprisingly, they had a fairly in-depth review of the new Xbox Live interface, and it was very informative! Here's the link:

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/39158

Just avoid the "comments" to just about any review on this site, since there's little intelligent discussion here, and fits every stereotype of online "discussions" that AA avoids!

They are all feminine, male or female. It's not a major deal as it's a style thing, but there's little way to make these things overtly or "classicly" masculine. You can't even change body proportions as of yet, i.e., no muscles, overly skinny, overly fat, etc.

I noticed that on the 360,

I noticed that on the 360, Mark, for you and a few others on my friend's list who obviously haven't created an avatar yet. It's funny that that's the default silhouette rather than the simplest model.

My Avatar seems to look like this:

And I haven't even logged into the new XNE as my box sits in the Netherlands and I two countries south of it for the time being ;-)
Cool, the 'default' silhouette seems to look like Matt more than it does look like me. It definitely has more hair. But I really wonder if I can make one of them sort of look like me. Bill has succeeded rather nicely I think. It must be possible to do something similar, I wonder how restrictive the avatar-models are. If I get my way it'll soon end up looking like this: 6'8"
