That's a good point about

That's a good point about going for the console less traveled by. I assume this thing will have equivalent gameplay to a heavy sixer or the like?

I still don't understand why Sears wanted to rebrand these things. Was Atari's name recognition that worthless? Doesn't make a damn bit of sense. Can you imagine if they were trying to market a "Wal-Mart VideoGame Player" that was really an Xbox 360 or PS3?? That'd be a laugh.

Somehow, you made unpacking a box interesting!

You did a good job of providing info, anecdotes, and tid-bits on the Sears Video Arcade II while removing it from the packaging. Considering the fact that your remarks were apparently "off-the-cuff," it was a remarkably free-and-easy delivery with a touch of humor, and it kept me interested.

If I did the video, it would have went something like: "Uh, yeah, uh, I just got the Sears Video thing, uh, um, I guess it was from Sears, uh, yeah.... OWWW, I JUST CUT MYSELF! (*bleeping out profanity*)"

I remember Atari trying to market the "2800" in Japan, but it looked so pathetic in the age of the Famicom/NES!

Heheh, yeah let's not forget

Heheh, yeah let's not forget that all those sleek videos are generally made with assistance. I hate to keep harping on this, but it'd be great if we didn't all live so damn far apart and could get together to help out with stuff like this.

Good Vid!

I love this type of video as it is the thing I experience myself when opening a box I just got from the post-office. Or when I am lucky enough to be home - a box that was delivered into my own hands by the postman.
So is this Sears game 100% compatible? Or are there any idiosyncrasies that one needs to consider?

Are there any games for the Sears that won't run on the original 2600? Did it feature any enhanced technology?

Thank you Mark, yeah that

Thank you Mark, yeah that was my hope to capture that feeling and why I decided to just go ahead and shoot the vid regardless of how crappy it turned out because it was honest. Anyway I cannot comment with 100% accuracy but as far as I know it is 100% compatible, I do not believe there are any enhancements beyond esthetics (in my opinion) but I will say of all my RF output classic systems this one seems pretty darn clear on my television
