Just a heads-up that our upcoming book, Vintage Games: An Insider Look at the History of Grand Theft Auto, Super Mario, and the Most Influential Games of All Time, the one we've been discussing with you guys lately, is now available for pre-order from Amazon and many other locations you'd expect. We'll post about it again when the entries are updated (they're all essentially placeholders right now), but thought you might like to see that yeah, it's for real:
Keep in mind that the expected release date is roughly February 2009, so there's still a lot of work to be done, particularly on the publisher's end. Thanks for all your support and we'll continue to keep everyone updated. I'll be especially excited when the publisher finalizes the cover design, which should feature artwork from our own Mark Vergeer!

Book price
Yeah, it's Amazon's pre-order price guarantee. If it goes lower, you get it for less, if it goes higher, you get it for the price you put the order in for. Win-win. Though I'm not sure when they actually charge you (it might be when you place the pre-order), so I could be wrong about that. Everything else though is 100% accurate.

Whoa, $23? Wonder what's up
Whoa, $23? Wonder what's up with that--maybe some miscommunication or a glitch. Are you sure it'd lock in to that price? If so, damn, you'd be nuts not to pre-order it. I'm sure it'll be more like $40 when it hits if not more.
Vintage Games for cheap
I don't necessarily believe in pre-ordering this early, but it looks like the price is down to $23.07, which would get locked in if you pre-order in advanced on Amazon. They don't charge until it ships. Just something to keep in mind if you think it might interest you upon its release.

AA is Spam???
You're right, Bill. I checked my "Spam" folder in "Yahoo! Mail," and sure enough, there was your reply. For the record, it appears that "Yahoo! Mail" considers "Armchair Arcade" Emails as Spam, and was instantly dumped to my "Spam" folder, which is why I never saw it. I wonder why AA is considered "Spam" by Yahoo?
A belated "thank you" from me... I am indeed honored. (Why does Yahoo consider AA as Spam????) I guess I need to dump Yahoo Mail and set up my own Email account via my ISP, which I have been too lazy to do until now.

First sale!
If they use your cover art (looks like they will), I would hope they would send you at least one, but it's nice to have extras... ;-)

Attribution
I did respond to you, Rob, I'm sorry you didn't get it or it went in your junk mail folder. I basically stated that I appreciated that, but I liked how the attribution came out. I don't mind pimping AA in the book, but there has to be a good reason for it. It was logical in this case for that chapter to include a few direct quotes from you, since it was important first-hand testimony from the time. Any other AA mentions are in reference to past articles or interviews or whatever, and that can't be avoided. Regardless, it all works to make the book better, so no worries.

Looking forward to the book.
Personally, I'm glad to have possibly inspired some thoughts in the book, but I consider my role on this site as a dialogue contributor and cheerleader. I require no "attribution" or "acknowledgment" in the book, and I've sent Bill email stating this, since he basically said he wanted to avoid "pimping" AA in the book in the "PCS" thread (did he get the email?). "Rowdy Rob" is a "fictional" character anyways, so you can consider my posts here "(CC)". Not that anything I've said on AA is untrue (it's all true), but you guys owe me nothing, even an "acknowlegement."
I owe YOU for providing a forum for me to post on a subject I have no other outlet to talk about amongst my friends and colleagues. :-) No "real" gamers in the lot of them!
