The CPU power is too low. Both P4 and above need to be 2.0Ghz minimum and your graphics card may have too little memory. :-(

I just checked (http://www.spore.com/what/specs_spore) and it looks like my processor is the bare minimum:

# For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires at least:
# * Intel Integrated Chipset, 945GM or above.
# * 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent.

So it should work, though obviously being at the minimum is not ideal. A Core 2 Duo is faster than a P4.

Rumor Mill - ps3 and 360 versions highly likely

Well according to Mr Custard there is no definite answer to a 360 or ps3 version, according to him it is still rumour mill material. And development of those titles will take a long time still. So I got a little crazy and did this:
Downloading spore
It is a picture of the mandatory EA download manager that is downloading the PC Spore game at 1.5Mb/sec. I'll be able to install it in less than an hour. It'll probably bring a smile to Matt's face.
The download manager seems to be some sort of Steam-like application necessary to run the game. I have yet to find out if the downloaded installer files can be backed up somewhere. I am not expecting to be able to play this game when I need to reinstall it in say 3 years time or so. I gather it is just throw-away money for a game I may be able to play only here and now. I'd much rather have a DRM-free download and a personalized registration key. A console and a disk may be better....

If this game doesn't function properly on my machine - that does seem to have the right specifications - then I'll stick to console gaming for a long time to come.

Excellent, then I"ll wait. Unless they're lacking, I'd probably prefer it on the 360 or PS3. The good thing is if they're lacking, the PC version will still be there waiting for me.

Spore on my laptop

This is my PC spec, Mark, a Gateway Tablet PC:

Windows Vista SP1
Intel Centrino Duo, T5600 @1.83GHz
4GB
ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 64MB 1280x760
7200RPM HD
Rating 3.7

What do you think? I had assumed it would have been enough to run Spore. Am I wrong?

Also, I haven't heard of any console versions in development, other than the scaled down and very different versions for the DS and Wii. Do you have any links for Spore coming to the other consoles?

This is my 3610 Acer GPU an nvidia 8600

I think I'd better wait for the 360 version to come out.
