Well let me tell you people that the official follow up to the dumped 'core edition' has been dubbed the Xbox 360 Arcade edition. It is confirmed for the US market and is the Microsoft answer to Nintendo's Wii to lure in the more casual gamer type users. It'll cost the US customer no more then USD 279,99. The bundle will consist of a console, a wireless controller and the games Pac-Man, Uno and Luxor 2 on DVD.
Various retailers have already put photos of the new package on-line.

Just the high end one as far as I know (that's the "Elite", right?). I have no specific need for it, myself, as I run the 360 in 720p anyway, and my TV only goes up to 1080i. I'm not yet tempted by hi-def DVD players either. My Sony home theater receiver with 5 disc DVD changer upscales my DVDs on my TV to 1080i, which is good enough for now. (By the way, I got my TV around 2001, so it uses the older, bigger digital connector, so I just use a standard adapter to convert the standard DVI output of my DVD player to that so I can upscale)

HDMI?
Which models will feature a HDMI port?

Yep, all the same
It's going to be really hard for MS to compete with Nintendo when most of the kids 12 and under certainly know "Nintendo" alot more than they know MS. Parents are going to be hearing about the Wii leading up to Xmas and I'd be willing to bet it leads the pack in sales when the holiday season winds up. I haven't seen alot of "kiddie" games from MS lately, so I'm not sure who they'd be catering to, unless it's the retro crowd...but then again, those of us with a standard 360 can get all the retro games we want on Xbox Live.
Yeah, it's the same exact system, just with a "high capacity" memory card pre-loaded with some XBLA games instead of a hard drive. You can buy the 20GB or 120GB hard drive and just pop it on, like any other 360.
The big difference between this and the prior core model, was that the original came with a wired controller and no memory card. They now give you a memory card, wireless controller and some games. It's what it should have been in the first place.

Hmmmm, interesting...
So, no hard drive, but assume it's the same 360 hardware-wise as far as the guts of the system. Wonder if it allows for a hard drive to be installed if one purchased it separately?
