Just managed to get cpm working in vice c128 mode. If anyone is interested;

1 - Make sure you have VICE installed

2 - Get the cp/m system disk for 1581 here
http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/demodisks/c128/cpm.622-5002336.d8...

3 - start up x128

4 - Under Settings -> drive settings -> Drive #8 model, select 1581

5 - Under Options -> Maximum speed, set to 200%

6 - Insert the cpm disk in drive 8

7 - Do a soft reset

8 - When the "Booting CP/M Plus" appears at the top of the screen, hit F7 to go into 80 col mode

9 - once booted up, type "screen40 off"

10 - Save as a snapshot so you dont have to repeat next time you want to boot into cpm

As an aside, http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm has a lot of cool stuff.

user areas

do

user 1
dir

etc
There are files in the first 4 users areas, the rest are empty (up to 15).

user 0 gets you back to the 'root'

Its kinda odd they tried to accomodate mult user (giving 15 user space areas) insted of directories on the filesystem...

Neat

This is pretty neat! I'd like to try this when I get a chance, too. Maybe someone could post some screenshots???
