Comparing C-64 and Xbox 360 Copyright Schemes

Matt Barton's picture

I just found a fun presentation that compares the copy protection schemes used by the 360 with those of the C-64. I was really surprised at the similarities, despite the many years and "advancements" made in the interval. The presentation really gets into the guts of the C-64 and the 360; you techies and hardware hackers out there will really enjoy this. Link via maxconsole.

Hm, that stinks. I guess they were asked to take it down for DMCA reasons, even though it was designed to help people better protect their programs. Oh, well.

It appears to be back up.

It appears to be back up. I'll definitely keep a copy of this, though...

A good set of slides, I wish I could see the actual presentation! And it's a great thing to give to people who tell you that there's no value at all in retro-computing, and that you're just wasting your time...
